👷‍♂️ Meet the Team: Jonathan Bray

Jonathan is one of our Welder/Fabricators, bringing an all-round hands-on approach to every project that comes through the workshop.

When asked what he enjoys most about the job, his answer was simple: all of it. From fabrication and welding to assembly and problem solving, he enjoys being involved in the full process from start to finish.

For Jonathan, one of the most interesting parts of the role is being able to fabricate, weld, and assemble an entire job himself—seeing a project come together from raw materials to finished equipment.

His biggest achievement so far? Problem solving. Finding practical solutions and overcoming challenges is a huge part of the role and something he takes pride in every day.

Day-to-day, Jonathan is involved in welding, fabricating, and tackling the challenges that come with complex engineering projects.

If he wasn’t doing this job, he says he wouldn’t want to be doing anything different—which says everything about his passion for the industry.

And when it’s time for a break, his dream destination is the Swiss Alps 🏔️

We were happy to help out Berkeley Parks Transport the other day when they came to collect a load from our neighbours and needed a spot of welding done at short notice.

A great surprise this morning when they dropped by with cakes to say thank you — very much appreciated by the whole team! 🍰

👨‍🏭 Meet the Team: Oliver Hanby

A slightly different Meet the Team post for this one…

Oliver is currently with us on work experience, gaining hands-on insight into the welding and fabrication industry while developing new skills alongside experienced members of the team.

Some of you may recognise the surname too—Oliver is the son of Andy Hanby from one of our previous Meet the Team posts, and he’s currently working alongside us while aiming to follow in his dad’s footsteps within the engineering industry.

What he enjoys most is welding, along with the opportunity to learn something new every day. From fabrication techniques to workshop practices, each task brings a new challenge and more experience.

One of Oliver’s proudest achievements so far has been being trusted to weld saddles on a treatment plant—an important step in building confidence and practical ability.

Day-to-day, he works closely with experienced mentors, learning the skills and processes involved in welding and fabrication.

If he wasn’t heading into engineering, Oliver reckons he’d probably be a property investor instead.

And when it’s time for a holiday, his dream destination is Japan 🇯🇵

👷‍♂️ Meet the Team: Mark Templeton

Mark is our Supervisor, playing a key role in supporting the team and keeping projects running smoothly.

What he enjoys most about the job is passing on his knowledge—teaching apprentices and helping develop their skills as they grow in their roles.

The most interesting part for Mark is the variety the job brings, along with the different places it’s taken him over the years.

One of his proudest achievements has been his work on incising machines and their development, contributing to improvements over time.

Day-to-day, Mark is supervising and assisting the workforce, making sure everything is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

If he wasn’t doing this? You’d probably find him playing golf… although by his own admission, not very well ⛳

And when it’s time for a break, his dream destination is America 🇺🇸

A huge thank you to the North West Family Business Awards for a fantastic evening on Friday celebrating so many brilliant businesses across the region.

Whilst we didn’t come away with the win this time, we’re incredibly proud to have been finalists and to have had the opportunity to be part of such a positive and inspiring event.

The process itself has given us a lot to reflect on and learn from as a business, and we’re taking plenty of ideas and motivation away with us.
Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists — it was great to hear so many success stories and see the strength of family businesses across the North West 👏

Finally, thank you to everyone who continues to support us at Tweddle Engineering. From our team and customers to suppliers, partners, friends and family — we genuinely appreciate it.

👔 Meet the Team: Abdullah Badas

Abdullah is our Operations Director, playing a key role in driving the business forward and ensuring everything runs smoothly across the board.

What he enjoys most about the role is the variety—dealing with different challenges both internally and externally, and constantly adapting to what the business needs.

For Abdullah, the most interesting part of the job is that there’s always something to improve. It never stands still, and there’s always an opportunity to make things better 😊

One of his biggest achievements has been growing the team and bringing in apprentices who have gone on to become valued long-term team members.

Day-to-day, Abdullah is involved in almost every aspect of the business—supporting projects, guiding teams, and helping shape the direction of the company (just leaving the highly technical work to the specialists!).

If he wasn’t in this role, he’d likely be leading in regional procurement or business development—still focused on growth and strategy.

And when it’s time to switch off, his dream destination is Japan 🇯🇵

👷‍♂️ Meet the Team: Ashley Coates

Ashley is one of our Welder Fabricator Apprentices, developing his skills across a wide range of work in the workshop.

What he enjoys most is the variety—one day he could be welding, the next assembling or fabricating, keeping every day fresh and interesting. It’s this mix of hands-on tasks that makes the role so rewarding.

The most interesting part for Ashley is the range of work he gets involved in, from hydraulics and pipework to both heavy and light fabrication—giving him valuable experience across the board.

A big achievement so far has been reaching the final stages of his apprenticeship and pushing through the college side of his training.

Day-to-day, Ashley is measuring, welding, and fabricating, building the foundations of a strong career in engineering.

If he wasn’t on this path, he’d likely be exploring electrical engineering—still working in a technical, hands-on field.

And when it’s time to get away, his dream destination is the Maldives 🌴
