An extra hour in bed. But what about your building?

When the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, most of us will appreciate the extra hour without giving it much thought.

But for BEMS, accurate timekeeping is about much more than changing the clock.

Even a one-hour discrepancy can affect building operation, energy performance and the reliability of the data used to make informed decisions.

⛳ A great day of golf for three fantastic causes!

Lewis Locke, Director, and Harry Phillip, BEMS Engineer, from andOr Systems, recently joined Jaguar Building Services for its 5th Annual Charity Golf Day at The Oxfordshire Golf & Spa.

Bringing together industry colleagues and supply-chain partners for a day of golf, good company and fundraising, the event supported three charities doing invaluable work across London:

💚 Pecan Charity – tackling poverty and supporting vulnerable people.

💚 The Manna Society – providing essential services for people experiencing homelessness and poverty.

💚 The Ivy Street Family Centre – supporting children and families in the local community.

Jaguar's first four charity golf days raised an impressive £111,000+, making this a fantastic annual initiative to be part of.

A big thank you to Richard George, Head of Projects, and everyone at Jaguar Building Services for the invitation, warm hospitality and a thoroughly enjoyable day!

Ahead of World Mental Health Day tomorrow, we’re focusing on this year’s message: Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.

At andOr Systems, we prioritise empowering people. Part of that is creating a working environment where people feel able to be themselves, speak honestly and know that they will be listened to.

Because listening isn’t about immediately having an answer or trying to fix everything.

Sometimes it’s about giving someone the time to talk. Asking another question. Checking in again tomorrow. Or recognising that what works for one person might not work for another.

Our industry is built around people working together, sharing knowledge and solving problems. We can bring that same approach to mental wellbeing: listen, learn and look out for one another.

🎮 A little 80s nostalgia, plenty of great company and a celebration of people and partnerships at 2026.

andOr Systems Director, Lewis Locke was in Newport yesterday for LinakerJAM at The Celtic Collection – an evening bringing together www.linaker.com's people, clients, suppliers and partners to celebrate achievements and the relationships behind them.

With this year's event taking inspiration from the neon-lit arcade culture of the 80s, there was certainly no shortage of personality – from the retro theme to Linaker's unmistakable van awards!

For andOr, events like this are also a valuable opportunity to spend time with the people we work alongside, strengthen relationships and catch up with familiar faces from across the industry.

A big thank you to Claire Curran for the invitation, and to Vicky Morris and her team for all the work that went into planning and delivering such a memorable event.

🎉 Happy 2nd andOrversary to us – and what two years it’s been!

Since our first anniversary, we’ve continued to grow our team, strengthen our partnerships and deliver smart building projects that improve control, visibility, energy performance and occupant comfort.

From BEMS upgrades and AHU decarbonisation to LoRaWAN monitoring, new technology partnerships and industry recognition - with another exciting development just around the corner – year two has been all about building on the foundations we put in place during our first 12 months.

We’re particularly proud to have been named a finalist at the BCIA Awards – one of the building controls industry’s most recognised awards – in both our first and second years of operation, a fantastic achievement for our growing team.

We’ve also continued to invest in our people, support the Armed Forces community and play our part in the wider industry and communities around us.

A huge thank you to our team, clients, partners and everyone at 4energy group who continues to be part of the journey.

The boots are coming out… ⚽️

On 17 September andOr Systems will be swapping smart buildings for shin pads as we take part in the www.prestonrecruitment.co.uk Annual Charity Football Tournament at Shoreditch Powerleague.

We’ll leave it until match day to find out whether our Director’s and Engineer’s footballing skills match their BEMS expertise!

Most importantly, the tournament is raising money for a wonderful charity - Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity, which grants wishes to seriously ill children across the UK.

🏢 Future-ready doesn't have to mean starting again.

It's World Green Building Week, and this year's theme is all about making buildings ready for what comes next – resilient, efficient and ready for opportunity.

For the huge number of buildings that are already standing, there's an important question: How can we make what we already have perform better?

At andOr Systems, that's a question we encounter every day.

Upgrading and integrating BEMS, improving control strategies, optimising existing systems and identifying targeted improvements can all help buildings operate more effectively and reduce unnecessary energy consumption.

Sometimes the answer is new technology. Sometimes it's getting existing technology to work harder and smarter. Often, it's a combination of the two.

A long time ago, in a site office not so far, far away…

There was Vader.

He may not appear on the andOr Systems payroll, but Vader is widely regarded as a valued member of the team, providing companionship, moral support and occasional supervision.

So, on International Dog Day, we're giving our favourite four-legged colleague his moment in the spotlight.

After all, with a name like Vader and a team called andOr, perhaps the Force was always going to be strong with this one. 🐾

🟢 Successful Trend BMS Installation & Witnessing 🟢

Another successful installation, commissioning and witnessing completed by the andOr Systems team.

The project included Trend Control Systems IQ5s for energy monitoring and control, IQ5NC riser control and IQECO field controllers, all brought together through IQVISION to provide a clear and intuitive view of the building’s operation.

A key part of the delivery was integrating the new controls around the existing site conditions and operational requirements matching what was already familiar to the client, while adding a subtle sprinkle of andOr enhancements to improve usability, visibility and overall system operation.

Following successful commissioning and witnessing, the system is now ready to provide a robust, maintainable platform for the building moving forward.
