The theme of World Environment Day this year is climate change, highlighting the importance of the choices we make and the actions we take today.

andOr Systems is attending Distech Controls’ sold-out Connect26 event in London over the next few days, meeting with partners, industry peers and innovators from across the smart buildings sector.

The event also aligns perfectly with a major Distech upgrade project currently underway for a key andOr Systems client, helping provide the platform for the very best building operating outcomes through smarter control, visibility and performance.

As part of the project, we are deploying the latest ECY range of controllers, Room Display units and Resense Move sensors to help deliver intelligent, connected and energy-efficient spaces.

Events like this are a valuable opportunity to share ideas, strengthen relationships and explore the technologies and strategies shaping the future of intelligent buildings.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, led by the Mental Health Foundation.

The 2026 theme is Action, a reminder that supporting mental health is not just about awareness, it’s about what we do day to day.

In building controls, pressure, deadlines, travel, problem-solving and long hours can all take their toll. Sometimes the most important actions are also the simplest:

💬 Checking in with a colleague
👂 Listening properly
☕ Taking a break together
📱 Encouraging someone to get support
🤝 Creating an environment where people can speak openly without judgement

At andOr Systems, technology is only part of what makes projects successful. People matter just as much. Strong teams, good communication and looking out for each other are all part of building a healthier working culture.

Industry-specific support is also available through organisations such as the Lighthouse Charity, which provides free wellbeing and mental health support for construction workers and their families.

As we mark World Day for Safety and Health at Work, it’s a timely reminder that strong safety performance starts with knowledge, responsibility and leadership on site.

That’s why andOr is proud to see our engineers undertake the CITB Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS).

This industry-recognised qualification is designed for those with supervisory responsibilities, providing a solid understanding of health and safety law, risk assessments, and how to maintain a safe, compliant working environment. Delivered over two days, it equips supervisors with the skills to manage risk, communicate effectively, and promote a strong safety culture across site teams.

For us, this isn’t just about certification. It’s about reinforcing the behaviours and standards that protect people, projects and performance.

At andOr Systems, safety is embedded in everything we do, from design and integration through to delivery on site. By continuing to invest in training like SSSTS, we’re ensuring our teams are equipped to lead by example and uphold the highest standards across every project.
