🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼 Caithness Festival Of Cycling 🚴🏼🚴🏼‍♀️

SBS are sponsoring the Caithness Festival Of Cycling for the 6th year.

There are 3 events which are all time trials & run under the Cycling Time trials rules. These are all based around Thurso, over the weekend 24th/25th of June.

The 3 events are as follows:

1. The Mack Mowat Memorial "25", at 3pm on Saturday 24th which is in memory of our first Life President, Mack Mowat. He was Caithness track champion before and after World War I where he was wounded and gassed. He later ran his gas-lit cycle shop in Olrig Street, Thurso, until his death 1980.

2. The Caithness "10", at 10am on Sunday 25th.

3. The Scrabster Hill Climb at 1pm on Sunday 25th. This replaces the popular 11 mile Loch Calder Hiily which unfortunately cannot be run due to appalling road surfaces.

**** Entries for these events close at midnight tonight 13th June ****

▪️Meet The Team▪️

▪️Peter Sinclair▪️

Peter joined the Oil & Gas industry back in 1993 working as an Electrician on the platform hook ups in the North Sea. In 1996 he joined Diamond Offshore as a Roustabout and then Roughneck. Peters earlier electrical/engineering apprenticeship at Dounreay along with his drilling experience gave him his opportunity to join Diamond’s Subsea Roving Squad. His hard work and enthusiasm ensured a quick progression up the ranks and was soon promoted to the Senior Subsea Engineer position onboard the Ocean Princess, a position he held for 10 years.
In 2007 Peter made the move to Global Santa Fe working in the Caspian Sea as Senior Subsea Engineer and after the merger with Transocean he filled the position of Project/Senior Subsea Engineer on Transocean’s new build drillship program.
After this, in 2010 Peter started working for Caspian Drilling Company as their Subsea Superintendent and it was at this time that he saw an opportunity to start his own Subsea Engineering Company which has grown to be industry recognised over the last 11 years.

Why are we called Sinclair Bay Subsea? Most people think it comes from our name but this is incorrect. Sinclair Bay is situated just to the North of Wick. The bay is well known to seafarers as a designated anchorage and has been used since the days of windjammers to shelter or wait for favourable weather to make passage West through the treacherous Pentland Firth. The bay is still used today as an anchorage for modern shipping and a launch site for Subsea 7’s pipe bundles from its yard at Wester. It is not unusual to see several high powered tugs preparing to tow a pipe bundle to location or shipping (top photo) and semi submersibles passing or sheltering in the bay (middle photo). As Louise and Peter, the founders of SBS look over the bay from their home in Caithness, Sinclair Bay Subsea was the obvious choice for a name for the company. Bottom photo is the 17th tee at Wick Golf Club which SBS sponsor, the photo also has the Stena Don Rig in the distance.
