Freshly built Mk1 Mexico with a new fast road spec engine.
In for the initial setting up of the twin Weber DCOEs and programmable 123 Ignition system, so the owner can continue putting some miles on running in the engine.

A little known fact it seems; a newly reconditioned engines fueling requirements change once it has been properly bed in. As carburetors are fixed metering devices, following calibration they can't compensate for this.

Following running in, this one will return to have the carbs recalibrated again.

This rare and unusual 52 Packard 'Straight Eight' was dropped off as a non runner after the owner and another workshop had become frustrated trying to get it to start and stay running.

This was a strange one, as after normal checks nothing jumped out as problematic. All the basics were there (fuel, air, spark and compression), yet it still refused to run.
A detailed look over the fuel delivery, ignition and electrical systems in the end revealed multiple issues with none obvious at first.
Further more extra brain power was required with the electrical and ignition systems because it's still original; 6 volt and positive earth. This doesn't sound much until you're dealing with something where everything looked at in detail is in question.

After much head scratching, fixing mistakes unintentionally added with attempts to fix prior to it being dropped off, those that originally existed and fabricating a tiny blanking plug that can't be bought, the straight 8 engine softly and smoothly sprung into life and following the repair is once again reliable enough to be driven and used.

MGB Roadster in for a tune up and running issues.
Another freshly built car, barely run in, built by a specialist and with various modifications for fast road / track day use. It's new owner only having had it for a couple months found it difficult and hesitant to build speed under normal acceleration.

After a basic tune up it was quickly evident the running issues were a bit more complicated.
Following monitoring on the dyno, a few tweaks and some experimentation to find the correct needles for the twin SUs, the car now drives much better all round.

Lancia Fulvia in for a set up.

Freshly run and settled in, the owner had noticed pinking/knock from the engine in certain circumstances. Previously tuned by a so say reputable and experienced 'mobile tuner', the settings and calibrations I found unfortunately were so wildly off it left me questioning their work.

After a good going over, more conservative settings left a much less fussy car that pulled nicely and settled down to idle normally.

A quirky, well presented car and a credit to the owner who built it themselves. It never fails to impress me the high standards some owner/builders are capable of achieving with a modest environment to work in.
