Enjoyed this job over the last few weeks in the evenings. Series 2 E type carb overhaul. Customer contacted me stating that its never started well. Sometimes taking 10 minutes of intermittent cranking before it would wake up. I removed them from thr car, stripped them down, deep clean in the ultrasonic cleaner, rebuilt using a Burlens rebuild kit and re installed at the customers home address . Car now starts instantly and will be enjoyed throughout the summer.

Don't know how I missed uploading this. Genuine Mk1 Mexico. Local to me the Owner wanted it re-comissioning before it goes off to be sold. Not been used since 1996! Un seized the clutch, Replaced all the fuel lines, fixed some electrical issues and got it through an MOTt. Sitting with just water in it for 29 years hadnt done it any favours. Lots of corroded pipes that needed to be replaced as well as a very blocked up radiator. To add some value and longevity to the car I also had the cylinder head off to have hardened valve seats fitted. Happy owner is now enjoying the car before its put up for sale to make way for another

Back to the Austin Healey carbs.

After an ultrasonic bath, clean, re assembly and basic setup the car is now running far far better. Customer couldn't believe how well it went. We also treated it to a new Distributor cap, rotor arm, HT leads and condenser.

Nice Triumph Stag that went next door to have some bodywork/paint blistering taken care of at our neighbouring bodyshop. Also had some small mechanical bits and bobs taken care of inc a couple of exhaust leaks, diagnosing a faulty overdrive solenoid and front wheel bearing check.

Not really taken many progress pics of this lately im afraid. But today I almost got the fuel lines all ran in and secured into place (ethanol safe), got the radiator fitted (yes thats a 140 radiator squeezed into a 120!), started fitting the engine bay wiring loom, made a start on the power cables too and from the battery and got brake fluid in the clutch and brake system. Will leave it a while to gravity bleed.

Right Then. Finally found time to do a little write up on the Proteus engine that I rebuilt last year. It initially came in to fix a really badly leaking rear main seal caused mainly by the car being sat for so long after it was built 20+ Years ago and fluctuating oil pressure. The Engine was supposedly re built by a well known jaguar specialist back then but as you will see in the following photos I'm sure that this is a case of a little bit of knowledge can be dangerous. It must be noted that it ran well with no discernible noises. Thanks to the Owner Richard for being Patient as the machine shop I use is always very busy.
