When a small component causes a big problem…

A recent replacement on a Corob D700 after a shaft seal failure on the standard gear pump led to colorant leakage — something that, if left unchecked, can quickly escalate into bigger operational issues.

This job involved:
🔧 Diagnosing the root cause of the leak
🔧 Removing the faulty gear pump
🔧 Installing and aligning the replacement pump
🔧 Ensuring clean, accurate dispensing performance post-install

The images show the condition of the failed pump and key stages of the replacement process.

Failures like this highlight the importance of regular maintenance and early intervention — especially in high-usage tinting environments where precision is everything.

During a routine service visit, a preventable issue was identified on a Fast & Fluid HA450 Dispenser.

The brush bath had been consistently overfilled, which led to product overflowing and causing excessive leakage in and around the dispenser. Situations like this can quickly create unnecessary mess, potential component wear, and avoidable downtime if left unchecked.

After carrying out a thorough clean-up of the machine and surrounding area, I took the time to walk the customer through the correct brush bath filling levels and best practice operation. With the proper guidance in place, the issue has now been resolved and should be fully preventable moving forward.

Routine service visits are not just about maintenance—they’re also a great opportunity to support customers with training and small operational improvements that keep equipment running efficiently.

Day 2 – Collomix Training
Today’s focus was on the Rota series and advanced fault-finding procedures. We explored the design and operation of the Rota series Mixers, gaining deeper insight into their mechanical and electronic systems. A large part of the session concentrated on diagnosing common issues, interpreting error codes, and applying systematic troubleshooting methods.

Hands-on practice allowed us to simulate real-world service scenarios, ensuring we can quickly identify root causes and implement reliable solutions in the field. This training further strengthens our ability to maintain performance, minimize downtime, and support customers with precision.
