Proud to supply and be associated with a project that, throughout its development, put such a high priority on sustainability and reducing the amount of concrete within the scheme.

With 90% of a buildings environmental impact defined by the very earliest decisions, one early stage material choice, often overlooked or value engineered out of a project, is the use of lime mortar. However, lime mortar can reduce CO2 emissions by 97%, compared to that of a cement based mortar.

With the advancement of our pre-mixed, hydraulic lime mortars, which meet the demands of modern building, there now exists an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to the more damaging cement mortars.

This project is testament to, the important role, lime mortar can play in new-build construction and the increasingly important fight against climate change.

When choosing a lime mortar, the reassurance of knowing there is a guarantee of offsetting carbon emissions, is a sound choice for the present and the future.

Congratulations to everyone involved and Limetec are proud to be part of this change.

Depending on the bond pattern, mortar accounts for 15 - 17% of the visible brickwork of a wall. The mortar and colour should be a major consideration in the overall appearance of a wall.

The same Otterburn Antique and White Glazed bricks take on a completely different appearance with our 'Worcester Brown' & 'Padstow Brown' Hydraulic Lime Mortars.

With 14 colours in our Eco-friendly, sustainable, pre-mixed Hydraulic Lime Mortar range - there is a colour to compliment every brick choice.

Would you believe... the design of this building in the centre of London, reduces carbon emissions 25% further than UK building regulations require.

One of many attributes to the building was the use of Limetec Lime Mortar, in particular Padstow Brown from our Heritage range, which contributed towards the building achieving the target BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.

Hanover Square sits in a prestigious and historical area of London and the development aspires to provide an iconic piece of modern real estate, sensitive to the local heritage.

The Runnymede Borough Council scheme is a shining example of how sustainable materials can be used to create large scale, new build projects.

Architects Feilden Clegg Bradley teamed up with Limetec on another cutting-edge new build scheme – this time for Runnymede Borough Councils, state-of-the-art, central office complex in Addlestone, Surrey.

Following on from the partnerships previous success with the National Trusts HQ, it had a similar aim – using energy efficient design to create a sustainable and fit for purpose, 21st century building that encourages new ways of working and cultural change.

Our hydraulic lime mortar is a modern day replica of traditional lime mortar and met the client’s brief perfectly, with its ability to eliminate the need for cement and facilitate future recycling criteria.

Our Natural Lime Mortar was used in this, almost sculptural, monolithic, elevation of Portland stone in the centre of London - highlighting lime mortars use in new build construction.

Two buildings were demolished to make way for a new, nine-storey office and a retail scheme of concrete and steel frame construction with Portland stone façade, Limetec natural lime mortar and bronze windows.

Due to the constraints and limitations of its location, our pre-mixed, coloured lime mortar was delivered in a controlled supply of 1 Tonne bulk bags.

Founded in 1829, King’s College School Wimbledon is one of the leading academic schools in the UK and it was a pleasure to be involved in the construction of the new music school.

Working as a group of three linked but individual buildings, they are arranged to be viewed amongst a group of existing trees, breaking down the bulk of the development and embedding it neatly within the School environment.

External walls are constructed from handmade brick using limetec hydraulic mortar (Colour: Traditional London from our Heritage range) and the roof, from handmade clay roof tiles set in a pattern which again expresses the triangulated structure of the Concert Hall and Rehearsal Room.

With hand made bricks, wood and exposed brickwork in abundance throughout the interior, lime mortars breathable qualities made it the obvious choice for this building.

The National Trust’s new central office is an inspirational example of what can be achieved in large scale, new building projects, using sustainable materials.

Situated in Brunel’s 19th Century rail yard in Swindon, the National Trust’s new offices were created to offer the most sustainable building possible within the budget. This meant careful consideration of all materials specified.

Offering a contemporary interpretation of industrial design and in keeping with the green ethos of the National Trust, the client wanted to eliminate the need for cement and ensure the structure was recyclable.

Limetec hydraulic lime mortar proved to be the perfect eco friendly product to help architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios meet this brief. Our hydraulic lime mortar offered the ideal characteristics to create a sustainable masonry building for their client.

Lime mortar allows masonry to be recycled when the building comes to the end of its life and whilst it sets, it re-absorbs some of the CO2 given off during the firing process.

With it's eco-friendly credentials, lime mortar has a large part to play in the future of construction.

The 1930’s modern façade on Marylebone High Street is distinctive in style and appearance. The façade was retained as a frontage to new apartments and the rear extension was replaced with a new terrace of mews housing designed by Dixon Jones Ltd.

Using Limetec Natural Hydraulic Lime Mortar, the advantage of no expansion joints on the façade becomes apparent and is one of the major aesthetic benefits of using lime mortar.

55 Victoria Street is a residential conversion and extension of an original office building in the centre of London. Adopting traditional 19th Century brickwork techniques, including the use of Limetec Heritage Glasgow Grey lime mortar, alongside 21st Century 'off-site' technology, to produce a striking contemporary design with softened brickwork features.

The completed brick clad project makes a strong urban statement at a kink in Victoria Street, amplified by the use of our distinctive grey lime mortar from our Heritage range and a peppery choice of brick. The base of the building is enlivened with random insertions of darker glazed bricks. The elevations above ground are simply ordered, reflecting the regular structural pattern of the original building.
