We are honoured to be recognised in Geotab's European Innovation Award for Marketplace & AI!

We play a key role in supporting Barhale's fleet and logistics management, helping drive a smarter, safer and more data-led approach across one of the UK’s most complex civil engineering fleets.

By implementing Geotab telematics alongside SureCam AI video, we have helped create a connected operational view, bringing together camera events and driver behaviour data in one place. The use of the Geotab Driver Safety Scorecard has also helped transform our driving culture across the fleet. By using clear, measurable safety insights, we’ve been able to create stronger accountability, better coaching conversations, and a much greater focus on safe driving. As a result, we have achieved an 8.8% reduction in preventable collisions even with a 40% fleet growth.

These results demonstrate the real impact of combining data, AI and proactive fleet management.

A huge congratulations and well done to the entire team on this fantastic achievement: Nath Phipps, Dan Couchman, Shaz Shaikh, Sarah Cook, and Raj Sandu.

We are also proud to share that Geotab will make a donation to our chosen charity, Children with Cancer UK.

Construction accounts for around 7% of the UK workforce, yet makes up 28% of all workplace fatalities, according to the Health and Safety Executive.

That reality is why Construction Safety Week matters, and why this year we’re focusing on how safer sites are built together.

On complex projects, safety doesn’t sit with one role, one contractor or one decision. It’s shaped by how site teams, partners and suppliers work together, and how well off site decisions reflect the realities of live sites.

Construction Safety Week may be one moment in the calendar, but the way people collaborate -sharing understanding, responding to change, and supporting one another - matters every day. Because safer outcomes are the result of how the industry works together, day in and day out.

We were proud to be part of Barhale's Midlands Supplier Safety Summit last week, bringing together partners to focus on collaboration, consistency and raising safety standards across the supply chain.

Throughout the day, we shared the latest Barhale PPE standard, discussed best practice and explored practical ways to support partners in staying compliant, consistent and protected on site. We also had valuable conversations around bespoke, safety focused fabrications and how these can be applied consistently across sites and subcontractors to uphold the same high standards.

Days like this reinforce the importance of working together to drive safer outcomes. By aligning standards, sharing knowledge and strengthening relationships across the supply chain, we continue to raise the bar for safety, support wellbeing and help ensure everyone goes home safe.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the day a success and for the continued commitment to high standards across the industry.

This week, on Earth Day, we were proud to attend the official opening of the Green Skills Academy at Wisbech College (College of West Anglia) 🌱

The new Green Skills Academy is a fantastic investment in the future, equipping students with the skills, knowledge and facilities needed to support the UK’s transition to low carbon infrastructure and sustainable engineering.

On the stand, representatives from BCS Group and Barhale, Martin Tolson, Dave Hydon and Tom Davy, showcased Qua-vac vacuum sewage systems, including a working display. This demonstrated how innovative wastewater solutions can significantly reduce energy use, water consumption and carbon impact compared to traditional gravity systems.

It was great to have valuable conversations with college staff, students, Anglian Water - Love Every Drop and Alliance partners, and even the local Mayor, about how modern, low carbon technologies can support education, regeneration and long term environmental goals.

A big congratulations to everyone involved in bringing the Green Skills Academy to life, we are excited to see the impact this facility will have on the next generation of engineers and sustainability leaders.

Safety & Health Excellence Awards Shortlisting!

We are delighted to announce that we’ve been shortlisted in the Best Driver Risk Management Performance category at this year’s Safety & Health Excellence (SHE) Awards.

Our fleet is a core enabler of business activity across a wide geographic footprint, managed centrally by BCS Group, our internal fleet management and logistics function supporting nationwide operations.

Given the scale, diversity and geographic spread of the fleet, it presents a complex and evolving risk landscape. Effective fleet management therefore requires a structured, proactive approach to risk oversight to safeguard our people, protect the public and ensure operational resilience.

We are proud of the progress our Barhale and BCS Group teams have made in this area to keep our colleagues and the public safe every day. We are looking forward to July’s ceremony where we hope for a win!

Can you spot the difference?

Two years ago our Fabrications team proudly handed over the fully refurbished DPJ15 road over rail bridge for Midland Metro Alliance at Dudley Port, complete with structural strengthening, rivet replacements, a fully NWR compliant corrosion protection system, and brand new anti-climb parapet extension rails.

And today?

It looks exactly the same.

Just a bridge performing, and protecting, exactly as designed.

We are proud to have supported Moorcroft LHMAT with their development of a brand-new OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) area, a space designed to inspire creativity, boost wellbeing, and encourage meaningful outdoor play.

As part of our donation, we provided a range of products to help bring the area to life, including:

⚠️ Bespoke signage, including a sign for their very own Tadpole Pond
➡️ Directional arrows to guide pupils around the play area
🚧 Cones and barriers to support safe play zones
👷‍♀️ PPE essentials such as hi-vis vests, hard hats, and gloves

The OPAL programme transforms outdoor environments into exciting, engaging and safe spaces that support children’s confidence, imagination and resilience. We are delighted to play a part in helping Moorcroft Wood create an outdoor space that will have a lasting, positive impact on their pupils.

A huge thank you to Leah Potts for organising this donation and working so closely with the school throughout the process, your support made this possible.

We’re proud to announce a major achievement within our Fabrications division!

We have been awarded BS EN ISO 3834-2:2021 accreditation, a standard that recognises excellence in welding quality management.

This certification covers the fabrication of BS EN 1090 products to Ex*****on Class 4, enabling us to deliver complex structural steelwork with confidence and precision. From portal buildings and bridges to platforms, lift shafts, and walkways, this accreditation reinforces our capability to meet the most demanding project requirements while maintaining the highest levels of quality and compliance.

This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to engineering excellence and providing safe, reliable solutions for our clients.

Tinnitus is far more common than most people think. According to Tinnitus UK Charity, 7.6 million people in the UK live with tinnitus and 1.5 million experience it severely.

Once hearing damage occurs, it is often irreversible and the effects may not show up immediately, that is why prevention is key.

Every year, the Health and Safety Executive estimates 15,000 workers develop work-related hearing problems. The good news? It is preventable.

In support of we have compiled essential facts and practical tips to help you reduce your risk and protect your ears for the future.

We are proud to share the installation of the fifth and final lift shaft delivered last year by our fabrications team for Midland Metro Alliance (MMA) as part of the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro Extension.

This milestone marks a major step forward in improving accessibility and connectivity for the region. A huge thank you to all partners involved who have made this possible: West Midlands Combined Authority, Crouch Waterfall, and Quattro Plant Hire.
