Low-viscosity drum pumps typically utilise a motor-driven centrifugal impeller, which spins at high speed. As the impeller spins, a low pressure zone is generated at the impeller eye. As pressure decreases, fluid velocity increases and the effects of atmospheric pressure and gravity push liquid into the pump inlet.

So centrifugal impellers don’t actually generate “suction”, “pull” or “lift” fluid - they create a pressure differential that forces the fluid to move.

However, every FLUX pump features a serviceable design and continuous duty (S1-approved) drive motor, meaning you can use these pumps in larger barrels and even IBCs, without the motor overheating.

Because 25 L drum pumps have narrow diameter pump tubes and small impellers, flow rate and discharge pressure are naturally limited. However, these pumps can still deliver flow rates up to 50 LPM*.
