👀 We are currently looking for a Weighbridge Operator at our Mannings Heath Depot near Tower Park in Poole.

Key info for this job role:

🚚 Previous experience as a weighbridge operator useful but not essential.
🚚 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
🚚 Applicant should have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, drivers, logistics personnel, and management.

⏰ Willingness to work flexible hours as required.
⏰ Permanent, Full-time.
⏰ The candidate will be expected to work 2 in 4 Saturday mornings by rota.

🎀 Now it's October & Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it means we can get out some of the old photos from 'Wear it Pink!

🚚 It's not just the lorries that go a bit pink... A couple of years ago we surprised Andy by giving his truck the pink treatment too 💅

💕 We've seen a lot of pink wigs, boxer shorts, leg warmers and hi vis over the years and we've had a lot of fun...!

🎀 Going Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

📆 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we’ll once again be showing our support and helping to raise awareness throughout the month.

🥲 Our pink lorry signs have sadly seen better days, so this year we’ll be adding pink ribbon signs to our fleet instead, keeping the message on the road in a slightly different way.

🙌 Over the last few years, we’ve been proud to support breast cancer awareness through the Cancer Now campaign and have raised over £3,500 through our efforts, something we’re incredibly proud of.

🥸 This year, we’re also looking forward to supporting Movember for the first time in November, giving us the chance to shine a light on another important cause and continue our fundraising efforts into the winter.
So, keep an eye out for our pink ribbons across the fleet this October, and thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years! 🎀

🪨 Taking learning outside the classroom at California Quarry!

Over the past two weeks, we’ve welcomed three groups of Year 7 students from The Swanage School to California Quarry.

⛏️ The students have been learning about Purbeck Stone quarrying as a local industry and the important role it has played in shaping Swanage and the surrounding area over the years, including the influence of George Burt and the development of the local stone industry.

Their visit to California Quarry gave them the chance to take that learning outside the classroom and see a working dimension stone quarry first-hand. Nick Crocker, who recently retired after almost 50 years at California Quarry, shared his knowledge of how the quarry and the wider industry have changed throughout his career, while Simon Clabburn talked about the wider Suttles operation and the importance of restoration.

💬 Their teacher summed up the experience beautifully:

"We really appreciated the time you spent with us, the openness with which you shared your knowledge, and the effort that went into accommodating our visit. It was great to see the operation firsthand and to meet the people behind it all."

⚡️ Our new LiuGong electric loading shovel has certainly been a conversation starter…

We’ve never had so many comments on plant from our customers at Swanworth Quarry.

👉 So how is it getting on?

We’re a couple of weeks in now & it’s certainly proving to be a real asset to our quarrying operations, working in all areas of the quarry before fully charging overnight ready for the following day.

💬 Director of quarrying Simon Clabburn commented:

‘Adding the electric loading shovel to our Swanworth Quarry fleet has been seamless. It has fitted into our operations well and is proving to be a versatile addition to the team. It has been working across different areas of the quarry and has handled the demands of our day-to-day operations really well.

We’ve also had some really positive feedback from our quarry operatives, and it’s been encouraging to see how quickly they’ve adapted to it. It’s still early days, but we’re already seeing the benefits of having electric plant as part of our fleet.’
