🎄Merry Christmas 🎄

We would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from McQueen’s Vehicle Services. We’re now closed until the 2nd of January and taking bookings from 13th of January.

Thank you to all of our customers who have supported us this year and watched us grow into providing fast and effective one stop shop service.

Few jobs we’ve had in the workshop 🔧

Vauxhall Corsa 1.0
Recovered into us as a non start, we found the timing chain tensioner had failed, causing the timing to jump 90 degrees, luckily there was no damage to the engine.
• Timing chain replaced

Ford Transit connect

Mercedes Sprinter
We applied our Stage 1 software and DPF solution Max Tune

Mini cooper
In for some maintenance work before mot
• Wheel bearing

• Front Caliper slide pins

Honda CRV
Came in the garage for the rear end skipping when on full lock. We found both rear driveshafts joints had excessive play.
• Rear driveshafts

VW T5
Come in the garage for excessive black smoke emission. We plugged in our diagnostic and found both MAF and MAP sensor values were off when compared to a standard reference range. We smoke tested the vehicle and found a boost leak from the top intercooler pipe.
• Genuine pipe replaced.

Ford Transit 2.4
Booked in for a rough idle, we found the MAP sensor sooted up and not calculating an accurate reading, injectors not coded by previous garage… fuel pump learn procedures not done properly. After we worked our magic with genuine software and bit of cleaner the vehicle ran smooth with no issues.

Couple of jobs we’ve had in the garage ⚙️

Our mobile service van is finally back on the road🎉, we sent the engine to Colin at RTN Auto Services who carried out a full engine rebuild due to the engine block being warped in 2 different places. We are now back operating on the road and in the garage. However, you’d like your car or van to be fixed 🔧

Vauxhall Vivaro
Came in the garage for some maintenance work, we carried out the following jobs;
• Top mount replacement
• Full service
• Auxiliary belt replacement
• Mot

Mitsubishi L200
Stuck in limp mode due to the dpf being blocked. The customer opted in for our DPF solution. We also carried out oil and filter change. Advised the fuel filter to be changed due to water in fuel light on the dash, looking at the filter you can see how bad and blocked the filter was. Max Tune

Vauxhall Vivaro
Come in the garage for loss of clutch engagement, we knew the clutch and slave was good due to us replacing this a few months prior. In the end, we found the master cylinder had failed causing damage to the diaphragm.
• Master cylinder replaced

Seat Ibiza
Recovered into us for clutch slipping, as you can see from the picture the clutch had gone past the rivets.
• Luk clutch replaced

Peugeot 3008
Booked in with us for mot and check over. We replaced the following;
• Front tyres
• Driveshafts
• Wheel bearing
• Auxiliary belt
• Full service
• Front discs and pads

Audi A3
Booked in for mot, checkover and engine light diagnostic. We replaced the following;
• Full service
• Glow plugs
• Rear tyre

VW T5
Came in the garage for lack of power and black smoking . We did all of our usual diagnostic checks for injectors, turbo, intake system ect. We hooked up our smoke machine and found an excessive leak from an intercooler pipe. We found the boost hose clip had gone weak and was rubbing against the housing.
• Genuine VW boost hose and map sensor fitted.

Few jobs we’ve done last couple of weeks 🔧

Citroen Xara VTS ex press wrc car
We recovered this vehicle from congleton due to having a severe power issue cutting at 5000 rpm. We did all of our usual ignition checks and found x2 spark plug not gapped correctly. This improved the running but wasn’t the root cause, we actually found the fuel pump surging at top end revs.
• Spark plugs gapped to spec
• Bosch fuel pump fitted

Citroen Berlingo
Recovered into the garage for a clutch issue. We replaced;
• Clutch
• Slave Cylinder
• Clutch fork

Toyota Yaris
Booked in the garage for a mot check over, few maintenance jobs that needed to be addressed before taking for test.

Renault Modus
Booked in for maintenance jobs, modifications and mot

Ford Transit
Recovered into us for brakes locking up, we also carried out a few maintenance jobs. We replaced;

Few maintenance jobs, we previously did a vehicle health check on the day before. We replaced;

Ford Transit
Booked in for a power issue, we found number 4 injector leaking around the clamp so we went all 4 off to PF Jones they found all 4 testing within specification but failing on electrical side

Another busy week at MVS 🔧

New ramp this week due to the extra demand on work, we’ve had a mobile scissor lift to give us the extra lifting space for the smaller jobs

Vauxhall Vivaro
Emissions light on the dash. We found the rear NOX sensor wiring had been ripped out due to not being clipped up properly, we repaired the wiring and extended the loom for better routing.

Fiat Punto
• Front top mounts replacement.

VW Crafter
Came in the garage with a bad coolant leak, we pressurized the system and found the egr cooler pipe was rubbing against a metal bracket
• Coolant pipe replaced

VW Golf
Came in the garage with the engine light on. We found the intake runner flap motor was over extending. Common issue across the VAG range, we installed the dieselgeek motor stopper, which stops the extra movement on the motor. We also cleaned the inlet manifold due to being excessively clogged with carbon deposits. Engine now breaths a lot better with smoother power delivery.
• Carbon clean
• Intake motor stopper fitted

Ford transit
• Clutch replacement

Renault Traffic
Few maintenance jobs. Customer just purchased the van and wanted us to do a full health check, we replaced;
• Battery
• Crank pulley
• Auxiliary belt
• Auxiliary tensioner
• Wiring repair to Auxiliary water pump

VW Caddy
• Power steering pump replacement
• Auxiliary belt and tensioner

Vauxhall Movano 2.3
Engine removed due to the engine block being warped. We’ll be taking the engine to RTN Auto Services who’ll deck the block and do an overhaul. More updates to follow on this.

Few jobs we done last week ⚙️

Ford Transit
We had this van booked in for a clutch, after doing our routine vehicle health check, we found some other defects that needed to be addressed. We replaced;
• Luk clutch kit
• Front drop links
• Brake pipes front to rear

VW Caddy
Came in the garage with a bad misfire, we sent the injectors off to PF Jones to be tested. They found all 4 injectors had bad flow and got them repaired in house.

Vauxhall Combo
We recovered this vehicle into garage with a bad misfire. When we checked the injector flow via the injector correction factor data, we found 2 were well over the limit. We carried out a leak test and found 2 injectors leaking back. To confirm our repairs we sent all 4 injectors to PF jones who confirmed our tests and also found 2 injectors had previously been replaced but wrong injectors fitted 🫣 all 4 are due to be replaced.

VW Crafter
Came in the garage for a bad oil leak luckily….
We replaced;
• Front crank seal, the customer previously had the cambelt done by another garage the week before, we found the timing was set incorrect due to tipex being used and not genuine timing tools. Seal replaced and timed up correctly.
• Auxiliary belt and tensioner
• We also applied our DPF solution Max Tune

Ford Transit
Booked in for a few maintenance jobs following a vehicle health check we previously did:
• Full Service
• Rear dog bone mount
• Front discs and pads
• Track rod end

Fiat Punto
Come in the garage for suspension knocking, we replaced;
• Rear shockers
• Track rod
• Front drop links

Few jobs from last week ⚙️

Citroen C3
• Full service
• Pats fluid refill

VW T5
Recovered into us with loss of drive. We quickly found the slave cylinder had failed, contaminating the clutch. The customer opted to do the flywheel at the same time preventing any future issues. We replaced;
• Clutch kit
• Flywheel

Ford Transit 2.4
Came in the garage for flashing coil light, we found injector malfunction through our diagnostic. We sent the injectors to PF Jones. They found 3 injectors failing on spray test. We replaced these injectors last year so they were still covered under our warranty.
• Injectors replaced under warranty
• 1 brand new injector fitted

Land Rover TD5
• Brake line replacement front to rear

Ford Transit
This was brought into us with an excessive oil leak. We found the turbo feed pipe had frayed.
• Turbo oil feed pipe replaced

Ford Transit Connect
We recovered this van into the workshop with a low oil pressure fault. We found metal fillings in the oil filter, after further strip down, we found a rocker bridge had snapped, which worked its way into the sump and damaged all bottom end bearings. New engine required.

Peugeot 3008
Come into the garage for an aircon fault, we found the clutch mechanism wasn’t engaging the pump. We also noticed the pats fluid was due for a change. Every 100k miles across the Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat platform. We replaced;
• Air Con pump
• Air Con regassed
• Pats Fluid fill

Renault Clio
We recovered this vehicle into the garage with a very bad misfire, we found the spark had never been changed and badly perished HT leads. We replaced;
• Spark plugs
• Coil pack
• HT leads

Mercedes C class
Failed mot for not being able to open the driver door, we found the locking mechanism was bent and out of alignment.
• Genuine door lock replaced
• Take for test

Renault master
Mobile job in Burslem
• Gear cable replacement

DAF XF
Mobile job in Fenton
• Middle axle air bag replacement

Few jobs from last week ⚙️

Audi A3 2.0
In the garage for a coolant leak. Whilst we had the vehicle we also noticed it was due a cambelt on mileage and age.
• Cambelt and waterpump replaced
• Coolant bottle replaced

VW Crafter 2.0
Came in the garage with an engine light. After running our diagnostic, we found camshaft and crankshaft correlation fault. We had our oscilloscope hooked up to the cam and crank sensors. We found both sensors giving the correct wave form, which ruled out the sensor. We found the camshaft pulley was out of time by 1 tooth and the fuel pump out by 40 degrees.
• Cambelt and waterpump replaced.

Focus ST
• Cat back Milltek exhaust fitted Milltek Sport

VW Crafter 2.0
Recovered in the garage for a very badly worn cv joint probably the worst we’ve ever seen. The cv joint was locking and stopping the van dead while driving…
• Driveshaft replaced

VW Golf 1.6
We recovered this vehicle into the garage with a loss of drive fault. We found the DSG had insufficient pressure build up on start up, common issue with the DQ200 gearbox ecu. We removed the TECU and sent it off to ECU Testing more updates to follow on this vehicle.

Volvo V70
We had this vehicle in the garage due to not being able to unlock the passenger door. After running an actuator test through our diagnostic, we found the door lock actuator had failed.
• Door lock actuator replaced.

Polo GTI 1.4
Few jobs done on this car getting it ready for sale;
• Suspension air ride removal replacing with AP coilovers
• Inner track rods replaced
• Outer track rods replaced
• Front camber plates removed

VW T6
Came in the garage for a flashing coil light, we found cylinder 1 glow plug had failed.
• All glow plugs replaced.

VW Crafter
Came in the garage for a cutting out fault, and the engine tapping. We found the auxiliary belt tensioner had seized and the crankshaft sensor was breaking up internally. Bit of a task changing this sensor being recessed into the gearbox. After a few cups of Yorkshire finest tea, we manage to fit the sensor, which cured the cutting out fault. If you know about this sensor you’ll understand the awkwardness 😂
• Auxiliary belt and tensioner replaced
• Crank sensor replaced

Mercedes Sprinter
• Rear discs and pads replacement

Honda S2000
Mobile job in Stafford. Rear brake pipe replacement as there was very little space over the rear differential and subframe. However, we still manage to get a factory fitment 😎.

Peugeot 2008
One of our loyal customers back in the garage for some maintenance. We noticed, on our last vehicle health check, the clutch was getting on the high side of the bite point. We replaced;
• Clutch replacement
• CV boot clip

Ford Transit 2.0
Recovered into the garage for loss of drive. After further inspection, we found the clutch cylinder had obliterated inside the gearbox contaminating the clutch disc. We replaced;
• Clutch kit

VW T6
Booked in for two injectors to be replaced, as another garage had previously diagnosed this vehicle but couldn’t fit them in. As always, we do our own diagnostics, whether it’s been somewhere else or not. We found the customer had accidentally filled up with petrol instead of diesel. We can’t stress enough to have your vehicle diagnosed properly, instead of loading the parts cannon up. We carried out the following;
• Fuel tank drained
• Fuel tank cleaned
• Fuel filter replacement
• Fill with correct fuel and reset all fuel parameters

MK6 Golf GTD Max Tune
• Stage 1 remap
• EGR solution

BMW 335d
• Exhaust manifold gasket replacement

Mercedes sprinter
We had this vehicle in the garage for various defects, which had been completed the week before. On our road test we had the dash light up like a Christmas🎄We found the alternator was putting out a low 8.9V running with loads on. Expected value should be between 13.7-14.7.
• Alternator replacement

Hyundia Tucson
We had this vehicle in the garage for a pre mot check. We found various defects that needed to be addressed before MOT. We replaced;
• Front lower arms
• Outer track rod
• Handbrake adjustment
• Screen wash tank/ jets clean
• Investigate an oil leak around the gearbox, due to come back for driveshaft seals.
• Take for test.

VW Golf
We had this vehicle in the garage for a full service and various running issues. We replaced;
• Injector copper washers
• Injector rubber seals
• Injector
• Rocker cover injector seals
• Full service
• Glow plugs
• Front tyres
• Take for test

Nissan Juke Auto
We recovered this vehicle into the garage with our recovery truck due to having no drive ( automatic CVT). On our diagnostic tests, we found the gearbox oil cooler pipes had corroded badly and drained the gearbox of all its oil. At first, we thought this was going to be a new gearbox due to the noise coming from the gearbox when selecting drive. Luckily, the customer stopped as soon as it happened, which saved the gearbox. We replaced;
• Gearbox oil cooler pipes
• Refill gearbox

Mobile job in Knutsford. Engine light on dash, we quickly found number 1 had failed. Very common issues on the 1.6 diesel engines across the vag range.

Recovery job. We recovered this vehicle back in to the garage due to having a snapped spring.

Came in the garage for a bad suspension squeak, we replaced;
• Front lower Ball joint

Mobile job in Newcastle. We removed the engine on this crafter due to it being a good donor engine; ready to fit to one of our personal vehicles.
