Bender UK is seeking an experienced and commercially minded leader to take responsibility for the strategic and operational delivery of our commercial function.

About the role

The Commercial Manager will oversee pricing, quoting, bids and tenders, and end to end order processing to ensure the delivery of commercially sound, technically compliant, and customer focused outcomes.

This position also carries direct leadership responsibility for our Sales Coordinator team, ensuring they operate as a cohesive, high performing function.

📊 Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain pricing structures for technical products and solutions, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
• Lead the review and approval of pricing, discounts, and commercial terms in alignment with delegated authority.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of accurate, technically aligned quotations, bids, and tenders.
• Ensure efficient and compliant processing of customer orders, maintaining strong controls over order entry and documentation.
• Resolve complex pricing or contractual issues in collaboration with sales, engineering, and operations teams.
• Provide regular reporting on pricing performance, margins, order intake, and bid activity.
• Work cross functionally with Sales, Technical, Operations, Finance, and Procurement to support business objectives.
• Identify and implement improvements to commercial and order management processes.

Skills and experience required

• Proven experience in a Commercial Manager, Sales Operations Manager, or similar role within a technical or engineering environment.
• Strong leadership capability with experience developing teams.
• In depth knowledge of pricing, quoting, bids and tenders, and order processing.
• Ability to interpret technical information and create commercial proposals.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with ERP, CRM, and quotation systems.

🎉Honouring two decades of dedication: Ricky's 20-year journey with Bender

Today marks an incredible milestone for our Operations Director, Ricky Barker as he celebrates 20 years with Bender UK!

Ricky's career with Bender has been one of continuous growth, starting out as a Commissioning Engineer, moving through Project Engineering, Service Management, and Head of Healthcare, before taking on his current role as Operations Director.

Reflecting on his two decades with the company, Ricky shared:

Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain an organised warehouse for smooth deliveries and dispatch

🌟 Embracing the Bender Spirit as one team.

Built on dedication, excellence, trust and teamwork, the Bender Spirit came to life last week during our annual company-wide team building day at Abbey House Hotel in Barrow.

🎯 The event was attended by colleagues from the UK and Ireland and included a presentation of our strategy, project highlights, and company successes.

🧠 The afternoon involved various team activities, including problem-solving challenges that tested cognitive thinking, teamwork and communication skills, finished with a BBQ.

🎉 Employee Spotlight: Sophie Hill's journey with Bender UK 🌟

In celebration of National Careers Week, we're proud to share the inspiring career journey of Sophie Hill!

Sophie started in 2016 as an NVQ Level 2 & 3 Business Administration Apprentice, gaining experience across admin, finance, marketing, industrial, and projects, including a 6 week placement in Germany at Bender HQ.

By 2020, she pursued a BSc Degree in Project Management, completing international placements at Optec (Switzerland) and Bender Benelux (Netherlands).

Along the way, she visited wind & solar farms, data centres, TV & radio production centres, and even ski resorts, all powered by Bender equipment.

After successfully completing her degree, Sophie now manages medical sector projects, delivering critical solutions that make a real difference. 🌍

Sophie shares: "Working at Bender UK has given me the chance to develop my skills, explore various industries, and contribute to important and meaningful projects within healthcare.
