Only one question has been asked in Kernow over the last week or two....."Goin' show, er no?"

Today we had the pleasure of attending RCS for the first time in many years. The weather could have been kinder (typically Cornish 4 seasons in a day!) but a fantastic event. Saw so many people, too many to mention here but special thanks to and for the lovely tea and cake and also Adam Baker for your hospitality on the One Point Survey stand. I was lucky enough to be joined by and a couple of my other (favourite) children so a real mix of business and pleasure throughout a wonderful day. Also managed to stock up on pens and some other great show swag, we will be back!

EXCITING NEWS

Today marks the start of the World Pilot Gig Championships on the Isles of Scilly.

This year Nuplan Surveys Ltd is proud to have our advert featured in the event programme and up on the big screen.

Even better, we’ve got family involved too — my brother is rowing for Fowey Men’s A again this year, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on how they get on.

Best of luck to everyone competing this weekend 👏

Lots of trees on this site earlier in the week

The GNSS signal was too weak near the surrounding tree canopy’s, so we had to give our second total station its debut to help maintain accuracy and keeping delivering a proper job.

The old dog got the new tech, running the AP20 AutoPole in the tight detailed areas, while I was left chasing the level bubble collecting soft data around the cabins.

The AP20 is great…. When you’re not watching someone else use it.

Cheers and gone!

Not your average commute to site yesterday…

We found ourselves using four modes of transport to reach our first job on St Martin’s, Isles of Scilly.

Van to Land’s End, flight across to St Mary’s, boat over to St Martin’s — and to finish it off, a lift from the landowner on a quad bike.

Two jobs completed, and now back at the airport waiting to head home.

No matter where the project is, we’ll get there.

Not quite Cornwall on this one…

We were up in Portsmouth yesterday carrying out a boundary survey — a fair old journey, but when a job needs doing, we’ll get there.

Early starts, long days, and getting it done properly on site. That’s just how we work.

No matter where the project is, the approach stays the same — turn up, do it right, and make sure the client has confidence in the result.

Definitely nice to be back on Cornish soil after this one.

Can you guess which Cornish town we were in at the beginning of the week?

Like many historic villages & towns in Cornwall, things aren’t always straightforward…

Flying freeholds, quirky extensions, and parts of neighbouring properties bought and stitched together over time can make title plans… well, a bit of a puzzle.

That’s where we come in.

By combining HM Land Registry drawings, topographical data, and scan data, we’re able to map exact feature positions, like party walls on this occasion. Producing clear, and up-to-date title plans that actually reflect what’s on the ground today.

Why does this matter?
Because when it comes to selling, buying, or developing property, clarity is everything. Avoid disputes, delays, and confusion by knowing exactly what you own.

And let’s be honest, if Cornish properties were simple, they wouldn’t have half the character.

We love working on these unique homes and helping bring a bit of precision to their history.

We were out near Truro last week surveying an old farm site.

Places like this often look fairly straightforward at first glance, but once you start measuring there’s usually far more going on than meets the eye – changes in level, irregular structures, and all sorts of small details that, if not recorded properly, could cause problems later on in the process.

By taking the time to capture this information, you gain a reliable foundation to confidently develop and progress the project, whatever your role in the design and construction process.

Not a bad office to spend the day at either!
