🌞 Hot Weather Opening Hours Update 🌞

Just a quick note to let everyone know that, due to the very hot weather over the next couple of days, HB Pitt Garden Shop will be closing early at 3:30pm.

By mid-afternoon, the sun reaches the front of the shop and it quickly becomes a bit of a sauna! To help keep everyone comfortable and safe, we’ll be finishing a little earlier than usual.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. As soon as the weather cools down, we’ll be back to our normal opening hours of 9:00am–5:00pm.

Stay safe, keep hydrated, and look after yourselves in the heat! ☀️💧🌿

☀️ Heatwave Reminder from HB Pitt Garden Shop ☀️

It’s getting really hot out there, so please don’t forget the basics for staying safe during this period of extreme heat.

🌞 Top tips for protecting yourself in the heat:
• Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water throughout the day.
• Avoid being outdoors during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm where possible).
• Wear loose, light-coloured clothing.
• Use sunscreen and wear a hat when outside.
• Keep your home cool by closing curtains and blinds during the day.
• Check on elderly relatives, neighbours and vulnerable friends.
• Never leave children or pets in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
• Watch for signs of heat exhaustion such as dizziness, headaches or nausea.

June is a busy month in the garden, but a little time now will keep everything looking its best throughout summer!

✅ Deadhead roses and flowering plants to encourage more blooms

✅ Keep on top of watering, especially containers and hanging baskets

✅ Tie in climbing plants and support tall perennials

✅ Hoe borders regularly to keep weeds under control

✅ Feed tomatoes, cucumbers and other hungry crops

✅ Trim spring-flowering shrubs once they’ve finished blooming

✅ Mow lawns regularly and raise the cutting height during dry spells

✅ Harvest salad leaves, strawberries and early crops little and often

✅ Keep an eye out for pests and diseases

✅ Sit back with a cuppa and enjoy all your hard work! ☕🌸
