From curved steel to a striking new feature in the heart of Boston.

Angle Ring carried out the forming work for The Wave, now installed as part of the Rosegarth Square regeneration scheme in Boston, Lincolnshire.

The finished structure forms part of the new public realm and has been designed to reflect Boston’s long maritime and port history.

With Rosegarth Square officially open as of last week, it’s great to see the finished result now in place!

From bent sections in Tipton to a completed footbridge heading to site in Ireland.

Earlier this year, we shared the 200 x 200 x 10 square hollow sections we cold bent for the Trim Millennium Pedestrian Bridge.

It’s great to now see the next stage of the project, with the footbridge fabricated by Dungarvan Precision Engineering and recently sent to site.

A project we were proud to play a part in has been recognised at the 2026 Structural Steel Design Awards.

The Fortnum & Mason Double Helix in London received an Award at this year’s SSDAs.

Angle Ring supported Littlehampton Welding Ltd with bending work for the staircase, much of which is ultimately hidden within the finished structure.

The judges commented:
“This three-storey double-helix staircase is a joy! It combines modern analysis and fabrication techniques for the hidden steel with immaculate craftsmanship for the finishes.”

A fantastic achievement for everyone involved!

Good luck to all of this year’s Structural Steel Design Awards finalists.

The 2026 SSDA winners will be announced later today, celebrating some of the standout structural steel projects from across the UK and Ireland.

We’re particularly pleased to see the Fortnum & Mason Double Helix in London among this year’s shortlisted projects.

Angle Ring supported Littlehampton Welding Ltd with work on the project, so it’s great to see the finished scheme recognised alongside some fantastic examples of structural steel design.

Three generations. 75 years. One family business.

Angle Ring began in Tipton in 1951, when Frank Barnshaw established a specialist engineering business focused on bending angle sections into rings.

Today, the business is still based in Tipton, still owned and led by the Barnshaw family, and has grown into one of the UK’s leading metal and alloy bending specialists.

From founder Frank Barnshaw, through his son Brian, to third-generation Managing Director Daniel Barnshaw today, each generation has helped Angle Ring adapt to new technologies, changing markets and increasingly complex projects.

As we celebrate our 75th anniversary, we’ve taken a look back at how the business, machinery and capabilities have evolved, while the specialist knowledge at the heart of Angle Ring has remained.

A recent Angle Ring project now installed in Coventry.

We carried out the bending work for Helix, an eight-metre-long sculpture by Jim Bond Sculptor, which was the winner of Stonewater’s Blunden Prize 2024.

Designed for Elm Fields Farm in Coventry, the piece includes seating and reflects the city’s industrial history, as well as Jim’s own personal connection to the area.

It’s great to see the finished structure now in place, and we’re looking forward to seeing it in its completed setting once the landscaping is finished!
