We may have been quiet on socials lately, but we have been busy.
Over the winter period, we have been working on heating upgrades for MOD properties at a nearby station.
The houses are full-electric heating, and had previously been fitted with costly-to-run oil filled radiators.
These have been replaced by Dimplex Quantum smart storage heaters, these are EcoDesign Lot20 compliant and are 27% cheaper to run than a standard storage heater, and 47% cheaper than the previous electric heating systems.
Our remit included:
- New wiring, so each heater had its own dedicated circuit
- New consumer units, replacing plastic dual RCD units with 18th edition full RCBO consumer units with surge protection
- Bathrooms were fitted with new Dimplex towel rails
- Kitchens with Dimplex Q-RAD smart electric radiators.
We also fitted Vericon units to each property, to remotely monitor humidity and potential mould development.
This work will go a long way to ensuring our forces families are warm in the winter, without breaking the bank.
Works completed by others as part of this project included renewing loft and cavity insulation, and the installation of solar panels and battery storage.
We enjoyed working alongside CLC and Amey on this project, here's to more in the future.
A few statistics:
- 78 properties
- 507 storage heaters
- 11, 484 heat retention 'bricks'
- 1 brick = 3.3kg
- 37.9 tons of bricks moved by ourselves!
Special mention to 3 Line - Norwich, for keeping up with demand and also moving 37 tons of bricks!
No wonder we've been quiet on socials!
