Job Description: Experienced Welder / Fabricator

We are a small, successful family run business, our headquarters are based between Newbury and Kingsclere. We specialise in Structural Steelwork & Architectural Metalwork.

We are looking for someone skilled to assist with fabrication & welding of structural steel and architectural metalwork.

Due to our location we require someone with their own transport. Hours of work are 7:00am-4.30pm.

Rate of pay is depending on skill and experience.

Location: Based from Newbury, working on sites across the South of England
Hours: Monday–Friday, 06:00–16:30 (overtime available)
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Start: Immediate
Salary: £13.50-£15:00 DOE
About Us
Able Steelwork & Metalwork Ltd delivers structural steel and architectural metalwork from design through to installation. We’re growing and looking for hands-on Junior Site Operatives to support our installation teams on a variety of projects.
The Role
You’ll work as part of a site crew to help install and fix steel structures, staircases, balustrades and other metalwork. This is a great entry route into construction/steelwork with full training provided. Typical duties include:
• Assisting with unloading, moving and setting out materials on site
• Safe use of hand and power tools (training provided)
• Helping senior fitters with positioning, bolting, fixing and snagging
• Keeping the work area clean, safe and organised
• Following RAMS and site instructions; completing basic paperwork
What We’re Looking For
• Positive attitude, reliable timekeeping and willingness to learn
• Comfortable with physical work and working outdoors/on ladders/at height
• Basic tool knowledge is helpful, but not essential
• Full UK driving licence preferred (company vans run from our Newbury base)
• CSCS card desirable (we can help you obtain this)
• Any of the following is a bonus: IPAF, PASMA, Manual Handling, First Aid
