A customer trial. Impressive feedback. A new addition to our trade counter. 👇

When a customer was having problems with their existing hole saws, we visited their site with Melvyn from Presto to put the BLU-MOL Xtreme Quickcore system to the test.

Melvyn demonstrated the hole saws and Quickcore arbors, then the customer tried them on their own application. They were very impressed with both.

Following that visit, we’ve now added a full Quickcore stand to our Telford trade counter.

What makes the system worth a look?

▪️ One Quickcore arbor covers the system’s hole saws from 16mm (5/8") to 152mm (6").
▪️ Quick core removal helps take the frustration out of removing cut-out material.
▪️ Already using another brand? The Universal Adaptor lets you use traditional bi-metal hole saws with the Quickcore arbor and change between them without tools.

Hole saws, arbors and sets are now available from NEXUS Industrial Supplies.

We’ve expanded our offering to include trailer parts from Distag QCS—including this FLEXEQUIP dual supply brake actuator, recently supplied to one of our customers.

What does a brake actuator actually do?

It converts pressure into mechanical force, moving the trailer’s brake linkage to apply the brakes.

This unit combines a T20 air chamber and a Ø25mm hydraulic cylinder, providing the option of air or hydraulic actuation to suit the braking system fitted. Only one supply should be connected at a time.

What makes a banded belt different?

The band across the top helps the individual V-belt sections work as one unit, improving stability in the pulley and reducing the risk of belts twisting or turning over.

We recently supplied a five-band PIX-DuraBand®-XS to one of our customers, so here’s a closer look at why this design is used.

On machinery subject to vibration, sudden shocks or repeated changes in load, keeping the belts stable matters.

The DuraBand®-XS combines that banded construction with:
▪️ Up to 25% higher power transmission rating compared with an industrial single V-belts.
▪️ Space-saving potential—the higher power capacity can allow fewer belt sections and a more compact drive, where the design permits.
▪️ The ability to handle shock and pulsating loads.
▪️ Enhanced heat dissipation, plus oil and heat resistance.

Together, these features can support increased machine uptime by helping the belt cope with demanding operating conditions.

⚙️ THIS SPROCKET HAD LOST ITS BITE… QUITE LITERALLY!

Yes, that really is a sprocket. Those teeth have seen better days! 👀

When an urgent breakdown came in, the NEXUS Industrial Supplies team got straight onto it. Within just a few hours, two new sprockets complete with taper-lock bushes had been sourced and delivered directly to the customer.

The old-versus-new photos also make a useful case for including chain drives in routine maintenance checks. Checking sprocket teeth, chain wear, tension, alignment and lubrication can help identify issues before they lead to an unexpected stoppage.

♻️ RECYCLING DOESN’T END WHEN MATERIAL ENTERS THE RIGHT BIN — THAT’S WHERE THE INDUSTRIAL PROCESS BEGINS.

Behind every collection is an industrial network responsible for sorting, separating and processing millions of tonnes of material.

According to the latest figures published by Defra, England’s commercial and industrial sectors generated an estimated 32.6 million tonnes of waste in 2023. Households produced a further 21.9 million tonnes in 2024, with approximately 9.6 million tonnes sent for recycling.

Packaging is another major part of the industry. Of the 12.7 million tonnes of packaging waste arising across the UK in 2024, more than 8.1 million tonnes were recycled, with paper and cardboard achieving the highest recycling rate at 74.3%.

Processing these materials can involve conveyors, trommels, screens, shredders, crushers, separators, compactors and balers — often operating in demanding conditions involving dust, moisture, contamination, vibration and heavy loads.
