The Italian GP kicks off today and they don’t call Monza the ‘Temple of Speed’ for nothing!

With cars spending around 80% of the lap at full throttle, transmission components have a lot to deal with. Long straights, heavy braking zones, rapid downshifts and hard acceleration out of the chicanes all put repeated loads through the gearbox.

It’s exactly the kind of demanding environment our transmission gears are manufactured for.

We produce gears with close attention to tooth accuracy, profile and finish, helping deliver consistent engagement, efficient power transfer and dependable performance under repeated high-speed shifts.

Precision is in the details.
And these splined shafts are a good example of exactly that!

From the accuracy of each spline and tooth form through to the surface finish, it’s the finer details that determine how well a component fits, engages and performs in service.

The long weekend is done and we’re wasting no time getting back into the swing of things, with CNC gear grinding underway on the shop floor as we speak.

With plenty of components to get through and the machines already busy, it's certainly a good start to a productive week ahead. 👍

This lightweighted timing gear is a good example of how small design changes can make a difference in high-performance motorsport applications.

By reducing rotational mass, lightweighted timing gears can help improve engine response, reduce inertia within the timing system and place less load on components such as chains, belts and idler gears as engine speed changes.

At higher RPM, reducing rotating mass can also help minimise vibration and dynamic loads, contributing to more consistent valve timing throughout the rev range. ⏱️

Good tooling doesn't just make parts.
It helps make good parts, 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺.

For more than 25 years, we've been manufacturing precision tooling for demanding automotive applications, including CV joints, synchroniser rings and powder metal components.

From punches and dies to broaches and carbide tooling, every component is manufactured to the tight tolerances these processes demand, helping manufacturers 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 and 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗺𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆. ✔️

A gear might look perfect... but how do you know it'll run as it should? 🤔

That's where gear roll testing comes in!

By running every gear against a master gear, we can quickly check for variations in the tooth profile, runout and surface imperfections that could affect performance.

It's one of the final quality checks before a gear leaves our factory, giving our customers confidence that every component meets the required standards and is ready for the job ahead. 👍

Fast corners are one thing.
Getting the power down between them is another.

With the Dutch GP taking place at Zandvoort this weekend, drivers will be relying on fast, consistent gear shifts to make the most of every acceleration zone.

The circuit's fast, flowing layout leaves little room to lose momentum, so every gear change needs to keep the engine in the right part of the power band as the car moves from corner to corner.

That's why precision-manufactured transmission gears matter. The accuracy of every tooth profile helps transfer power efficiently, allowing drivers to get the most from every gear change.

Every aircraft depends on thousands of precision-manufactured components working exactly as they should.

For us, that means manufacturing gears, splines, shafts, racks and other transmission components to tight tolerances and the quality standards aerospace applications demand.

This 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆, we're proud to celebrate an industry we've supported for decades, manufacturing components for new programmes right through to legacy aircraft that are still flying today!

It's also why we're proud members of the Midlands Aerospace Alliance, working alongside other manufacturers that help strengthen the UK's aerospace supply chain. ✈️

Not every gear follows the same manufacturing journey.

A component might look identical, measure correctly and fit perfectly... but that doesn't always mean it'll deliver the performance your application demands.

The finishing process plays a big part in the final result. Choosing between a finish-cut or precision-ground gear, spline or threaded component can influence everything from running accuracy and surface finish to noise, vibration and service life.

If you're weighing up the differences, take a look at what sets each manufacturing route apart.👇

We've got plenty to get our teeth into this morning... and so do these gears. 😅

These gears are currently heading through the grinding process, where every tooth profile is finished to the tight tolerances and surface finish needed for demanding applications.

It's one of the final manufacturing stages, but it's also one that makes a real difference to how the finished gear performs.
