Local connections 🤝🌱

Last week, Sinewave founder Adam Woodley represented us at Greener Business Day in Swindon, alongside other great businesses from across the region, including Zurich, Nationwide and Thermore Fisher.

Businesses from multiple sectors, local governing bodies and non-profits all contributed their experiences to the debate: How can we do better as green businesses to meet the UK's energy needs and green goals?

Reflecting on a great day of collaboration, Adam said, "Greener Business Day made one thing clear: the appetite for decarbonisation among local businesses is real. What’s often missing is straightforward advice on how to turn that ambition into action. Working through practical questions with SMEs in Swindon, from connection and cost to where to start, is exactly the gap Sinewave was built to close."

Meeting with other sustainability advocates and finding new ways to innovate is what makes events like this so special. Thanks to Borough Council & Wiltshire Climate Alliance for hosting another excellent summit.

When there's a better way, we find it đź‘€

There's more than one way to deliver a substation. For this project we used 3 purpose built containerised solutions, and it's a great example of why having options matters.

In this instance, rather than building everything on site, these were fitted out at HQ in a controlled environment. That meant site works could continue in parallel without interruption.

It's a smarter way to work. Our team can carry out preliminary checks before the substation ever leaves HQ, so by the time it arrives on site there are no surprises.

It's resulted in greater efficiency when up against tighter timelines, and a higher degree of confidence in the finished product before it's even installed.

Every project is different. Our job is to find the best way to deliver it.

Hours of travel, outdoor work in all conditions, and a level of precision that leaves no room for error.

Our jointing teams show up for all of it, and the quality of their work speaks for itself.

It's down to a combination that's hard to replicate. Training, experience and genuine pride in the craft. We see it in the results they deliver, consistently, wherever they're working in the country.

Our Field Ops Manager put it better than anyone else: "The team have gone from strength to strength. Two internal promotions and a new field supervisor mean we're better placed than ever to deliver the outstanding work our clients have come to know from Sinewave."

With specialist services such as design, jointing and commissioning delivered in-house, our clients get faster response times, consistent quality and a single team accountable from start to finish.

From the Sinewave Graduate Scheme to Future Leader🌱

When Brendan Laurence finished his engineering degree in 2022, he became one of the first to enter the Sinewave Graduate Scheme.

Nearly four years on, he’s progressed through multiple roles, explored almost all of Sinewave’s departments and is now developing into a manager.

But how did he get there?
âś…Mentorship
✅Cross‑department exposure
âś…Space to learn, grow and ask questions

“I'm a product of how everyone's embraced me here since I started.”

Top Secret, Location [Redacted] ⚠️

Okay, it might not be TOP secret, but we wanted to share some great news from one of our new sites where Sinewave has supplied, installed, and commissioned a new substation to support a major UK data centre.

With the wider compound being constructed around our work area, this has been a busy and tightly coordinated environment. Multiple contractors, overlapping activities and evolving site conditions have required clear communication, careful planning and a consistent focus on safety to keep everyone working effectively.

With the successful energisation of this site, work can continue to bring the rest of this impressive structure to life.

Project Spotlight: Bath Terrace

We recently revisited one of our projects for The EV Network in Cheltenham to see how the site has settled in since energisation. In a city where space is at a premium, providing large accessible bays for ultra-rapid charging has provided customers with a considered approach to EV infrastructure.

🔌 10 charging bays
⚡ 5 ultra-rapid 300 kW chargers
🌱 Powered by 100% renewable energy

It's clear from speaking with some of the site's users that the reaction to the Duracell E-Charge has been outstanding. Drivers told us they value the convenience of the location, the 300kW charging speeds, and the signature branding, which provided them with immediate confidence.

Another Commercial Vehicle Show done, and we're starting to notice a trend. You walk in, surrounded by people who get it. The conversations are sharp. The technology is better than last year. The options are there for operators to keep growing.

Then you step outside and remember, most fleet owners are still weighing up whether electrification is right for them.

But that gap is closing. Events like CVS are doing more than bringing the industry together. They put the technology in front of the decision makers.

More choice. Better features. Stronger competition. That's what's really going to help move the needle.

With the Amplify team joining us on the stand, Scott Johnstone took to the Technical Stage to talk about something that isn't getting enough attention: what happens after the chargers go in. The industry has over-performed on deployment but under-performed on maintenance.

'Design for Day 1,000, not Day 1.' Were Scott's closing words.

That's how we approach everything - longevity over quick fixes. Adaptability when it comes to design.

CV Show is done, but the conversation doesn't stop. Find out more at: https://zurl.co/oUpUr

Women hold 49% of UK driving licences - yet hold nowhere near that amount of decision-making power, influence, or visibility in the EV sector.

The 49 Collective is working to change that. We're proud to stand by them in supporting women at Sinewave and beyond, through their year-round campaign to accelerate diversity, equity and inclusion across energy and e-mobility.

That's why we've signed The 49 Charter. We're always looking for ways to create a more supportive environment for everyone. Turning talk into action, here is what we have been up to recently…

• We’ve upgraded our family-friendly policy with enhanced Maternity, Paternity, and Fertility leave to give all of our team more time with the ones that matter most.

• Supporting grassroots entry to the sector through educational engagement, work experience opportunities, and mentoring. This is on top of our graduate programme, which we’ve been running for several years. We’re providing young people with visibility about the career paths available to them in our sector.

• Encouraging wellness initiatives to support employee wellbeing, and providing opportunities to learn and to reduce stigma. We’re empowering our team to launch their own projects for good, such as our team-run Menopause Initiative to educate everyone in the team at Sinewave.

We're proud to support The 49 Collective and their mission for change.

It's all in the details 🔍

A few weeks ago, we shared the exciting news that Source EV Caerphilly is energised and open to the public. Now we're back with a deeper dive into the site, bringing you the inside track on how our team expertly delivered this project.

With up to 55,000 fast chargers needed in Wales by 2030, the Government aspires to increase the current number of chargers almost tenfold. Timely delivery and grid capacity are proving particularly challenging hurdles in Wales, especially in more rural areas.

In Caerphilly, the addition of ultra-rapid infrastructure is a significant community milestone and will act as a central hub in the region for years to come.

It's a site we're incredibly proud of. With the Welsh Government citing challenges like the gap between ambition and delivery, we're delighted to deliver this community hub on time and without compromise.

Head over to our website for a full breakdown of this project: https://zurl.co/JJli7
