Over the past 12 months, we've enhanced our tools, refined processes and used creative media to share the safety message across every site. The impact has been significant.

Another exciting step in our partnership with Fastned ⚡

Hatton Cross, London's newest ultra-rapid charging hub, is now live. Located right on the doorstep of Heathrow, this is the latest project we've delivered alongside Fastned as part of their joint venture with Places For London.

Bringing this site to life required strict traffic management, precise excavations and building a connection robust enough to stand the test of time.

We installed around 35 metres of ducting across the eastbound footway, continuing under the A30's busy dual carriageway, to reach the point of connection in the inside lane. From there, we pulled the HV cable through to the substation, completing the connection and energisation of the site.

12 ultra-rapid 400kW charging bays, powered entirely by renewable energy, open 24/7.

We're no strangers to EV hubs, but Chicklade Hub is something else. Set to become one of the most ambitious EV charging destinations in the UK, we're proud to have been appointed by InstaVolt as ICP to deliver key design, protection, installation and commissioning services at this epic site.

Building a different type of connection 🤝

Last week, the team swapped the usual sites for something a little different. As part of Sinewave's volunteer programme, Mike, Ciheart, Hong and Dave headed to Penn Wood Scouting Centre in the Cotswolds to help tackle a backlog of maintenance tasks that needed some extra hands.

For Mike, it was a bit of a homecoming. Penn Wood is where he attended Scouts growing up, which made the day that little bit more special.

Sinewave donated the gravel needed to level the vehicle areas and the team got to work. Over the course of the day, they levelled over 500m² of parking, dug 13 post holes through Cotswold stone on top of the escarpment, installed 10 posts and bars of new fencing, and finished mowing the camping areas, ready for this weekend's bookings.

The result is a safer, better maintained site for the hundreds of young people who visit Penn Wood every year. And a saving of around 6 weekends of time for the team who keep it running.

We love hearing your feedback on our marketing content, so we thought it was time to pull back the curtain.

Part of Will's role involves heading out to wherever our teams are working across the country. No two visits are the same, which means preparation is everything. Extra PPE packed, batteries charged, kit ready for whatever he walks into.

When he arrives on site, it's straight into the action. Getting into the detail of what the team are doing, asking questions and understanding the work properly is what allows us to bring our stories to life.

Over the past 12 months, that's looked like:

Will summed it up nicely by saying:

"For me, there's no substitute for being on site when it happens. The camera doesn't lie and what it captures time and again is a team that genuinely cares about the work they do and the safety of others. That's what makes this role so rewarding."

132kV. 40MW. North Devon. Done. ⚡

We made the most of the weather and headed back to North Devon to see the finished result of one of our most significant projects to date.

The Gammaton solar facility is now live. A 40MW site generating 42GWh of clean energy every year. Enough to power 11,000 homes and avoid 15,700 tonnes of CO₂e annually.

Strategically located adjacent to Alverdiscott power station, the site was chosen with the long term in mind. Strong existing grid infrastructure and real potential for future co-location as Sonnedix continues to develop and hybridise its portfolio.

Our scope covered the full 132kV connection, from breaking ground to final energisation. A 55-tonne transformer, over 500 metres of HV cabling, a brick-built DNO switch room and all the civil engineering to support it. Delivered by our dedicated Major Projects Division.

Local connections 🤝🌱

Last week, Sinewave founder Adam Woodley represented us at Greener Business Day in Swindon, alongside other great businesses from across the region, including Zurich, Nationwide and Thermore Fisher.

Businesses from multiple sectors, local governing bodies and non-profits all contributed their experiences to the debate: How can we do better as green businesses to meet the UK's energy needs and green goals?

Reflecting on a great day of collaboration, Adam said, "Greener Business Day made one thing clear: the appetite for decarbonisation among local businesses is real. What’s often missing is straightforward advice on how to turn that ambition into action. Working through practical questions with SMEs in Swindon, from connection and cost to where to start, is exactly the gap Sinewave was built to close."

Meeting with other sustainability advocates and finding new ways to innovate is what makes events like this so special. Thanks to Borough Council & Wiltshire Climate Alliance for hosting another excellent summit.

When there's a better way, we find it 👀

There's more than one way to deliver a substation. For this project we used 3 purpose built containerised solutions, and it's a great example of why having options matters.

In this instance, rather than building everything on site, these were fitted out at HQ in a controlled environment. That meant site works could continue in parallel without interruption.

It's a smarter way to work. Our team can carry out preliminary checks before the substation ever leaves HQ, so by the time it arrives on site there are no surprises.

It's resulted in greater efficiency when up against tighter timelines, and a higher degree of confidence in the finished product before it's even installed.

Every project is different. Our job is to find the best way to deliver it.
