Kaymac Marine & Civil Engineering Ltd

Kaymac Marine & Civil Engineering Ltd We’re a multi-award-winning specialist marine civil engineering contractor with a well-earned reputation in our field.

Kaymac Diving Services was established over three decades ago, in 1976, and traded for a number of years, primarily supplying underwater engineering services for a limited client base. The company was bought out by the present management in the late 70’s, and continued to expand the client base with diving as the main core activity. The increasing demands from clients for work other than diving, m

ostly marine engineering above water, led the management to change the company name to Kaymac Diving and Marine Services, and the company continued to flourish under the new title. In 1994, a decision was made to enter into a new field; that of land based civil engineering. This was as a direct result of experience gained in the marine engineering sector, which had proved a great success and had allowed continued expansion of the company and exposure to new clients outside the confines of the diving and underwater engineering sectors. The company name was changed once again to embrace all disciplines; and Kaymac Marine and Civil Engineering Ltd were launched in October 1994.

to spillway rehabilitation works at Llyn Teifi Reservoir. 🌊🧱

Set high in the Cambrian Mountains, this impounding reservoir plays an important role in supplying drinking water across Ceredigion, making the long-term performance of the dam structure critical.
Following inspection under the Reservoirs Act, deterioration caused by years of freeze and thaw cycles had raised concerns around the stability of the spillway face, leading to a programme of rehabilitation works.

Kaymac was commissioned to deliver a combined marine and civil engineering solution, including:
✅ diving operations to support works below the waterline
✅ isolation measures, including installation of a temporary blanking plate
✅ breakout of deteriorated concrete and installation of new reinforcement
✅ bespoke formwork and placement of new concrete in controlled vertical lifts
✅ construction of downstream drainage access to manage overspill

Working in a remote location with restricted access added another layer of complexity, requiring careful planning around logistics, access and sequencing.

A strong example of targeted rehabilitation helping extend the life of critical water infrastructure.

Scour protection plays a critical role in extending the life of structures exposed to moving water. 🌊

Across bridges, outfalls, coastal assets and river infrastructure, scour and erosion can weaken the ground around foundations, reduce structural resilience and create long-term risk for asset owners.

Delivering effective scour protection requires more than placing material in the water. It takes careful planning around access, flow conditions, environmental constraints and the long-term performance of the asset.

Kaymac supports clients across the UK with specialist marine and civil engineering expertise, delivering practical scour protection solutions in challenging tidal, coastal and in-water environments.

Supporting Mental Health Awareness Month at Kaymac.💚

This week, some of our office team wore green to show support and help encourage open conversations around mental wellbeing.

In our industries, where projects can be high pressure and fast paced, looking after mental wellbeing is important for both personal health and safe decision-making on site and in the office. A good reminder to check in with the people around us. 💪

St Julian’s Viaduct access works for this week’s . 🌉

Located within a navigable river with a tidal range exceeding 12 metres during spring tides, access to the structure presented a major challenge. Carrying out repairs from vessels at limited tidal windows would have restricted productivity and increased programme risk.

Kaymac was brought in to develop a more practical solution. One that would allow continuous access to the structure, regardless of tidal conditions, while supporting multiple contractors on site.

The approach centred around the design and installation of a floating pontoon working platform, engineered to:
✅ provide stable access across all states of the tide
✅ accommodate materials, plant and workforce requirements
✅ rise and fall safely with changing water levels throughout the day

By rethinking the original methodology, the works could be carried out more efficiently, with improved access and reduced reliance on narrow tidal working windows.

Projects like this highlight the importance of marine experience when planning works in dynamic tidal environments, where access can define the success of the entire scheme.

With Mental Health Awareness Week now underway, it feels like a good time to remind ourselves that checking in with people matters. 💙

Construction and engineering can be demanding industries to work in. Long days, challenging environments, pressure on programmes and time away from family can all take their toll, especially in sectors where people are often more comfortable talking about the job than how they are actually feeling.

The conversation around mental health in construction has come a long way, but creating supportive teams and looking out for each other still matters every day, not just during awareness weeks.

Sometimes it is as simple as asking a colleague if they’re alright, making time for a conversation or recognising when someone might need support.

At Kaymac, we know strong teams are not just built on experience and hard work, but on people feeling supported on and off site. 👷‍♂️

Marine infrastructure demand is increasing across the UK coastline. 🌊

Recent investment across ports, coastal assets and maritime decarbonisation programmes exceeded £1.1 billion in 2025 alone, showing the scale of activity now underway in marine environments.*

At the same time, many essential structures including bridges, outfalls, quay walls and jetties are reaching the end of their original design life. Asset owners are increasingly prioritising long-term resilience rather than short-term repair.

This is driving investment across:
✅ marine infrastructure repair and maintenance
✅ coastal defence and resilience schemes
✅ port and harbour upgrades
✅ energy and nuclear-related marine works

Delivering these schemes safely in tidal and subsea environments depends on specialist marine engineering experience from the outset.

Kaymac continues to support clients across transport, ports and harbours, energy, nuclear and water infrastructure sectors with practical delivery solutions for complex coastal assets. 💫

Investment across coastal infrastructure is increasing across the UK. 🌊

Ports and harbours, transport structures, water networks and energy infrastructure are all seeing renewed focus as asset owners plan upgrades designed to perform reliably for decades, not just years.

Delivering these schemes in tidal and subsea environments takes more than standard civil engineering. It requires marine access planning, temporary works designed around live water conditions and teams experienced in working safely below the waterline.

Kaymac continues to support infrastructure upgrades across these sectors with specialist marine civil engineering delivery throughout the UK.

Experience matters even more in marine construction environments. 👷‍♂️

Working in tidal zones and subsea conditions depends heavily on practical knowledge built over years on site. When teams stay together, that knowledge is retained, quality remains consistent and the next generation of engineers develops alongside experienced delivery specialists.

As a long-established family business, Kaymac has built its marine and civil engineering capability through continuity across diving, engineering and site teams. That stability supports safer planning, stronger delivery and long-term relationships across transport, ports and harbours, water and energy infrastructure projects throughout the UK. 💫

It is experience that stays within the team that helps complex marine projects run more smoothly.

Long sea outfalls are critical assets within wastewater infrastructure.

Installation and replacement schemes require careful coordination across seabed preparation, pipeline installation, stabilisation and commissioning, often within narrow tidal and environmental working windows. 👷‍♂️🌊

These projects play a vital role in protecting coastal water quality and supporting long-term network performance. 👏

Kaymac has delivered long sea outfall installations across the UK using practical marine construction methods developed through decades of subsea delivery experience.
