Quick update on the little mini...

Once I'd unstitched the front panels I could properly asses the bulkhead and see where needed some patches.

Repair panels made with 1mm steel and welded in place ready for the outer panels to go over the top.

Wing panels spotted in place and front scuttle clamped where it needs to be, quick test fit of the bonnet check the panel gaps then weld the scuttle in.

Slowly but surely making progress and she's starting to look like a mini again...

Didn't waste any time getting into it, paint and filler removed to see how far the rot had spread, then cut out and inner arch fabricated.

Luckily enough you can get alot of panels for this chassis now so the only panel I had to Fabricate was the inner which I made light work of with the shrinker/stretcher.

New sill end plates spotted in then new quarters spot welded in place and cleaned back with a flap disk, then a DA for a seamless oem finish...

Then she was passed onto DPR Vehicle Cosmetics for the paintwork which was completed in house.

Quick update on this peach of a landcruiser 80 series... Got the new shell dropped off once the chassis was complete, then it was time to sort out a couple of small patches of rust mainly on the rear of the sills on both sides.

All rot cut out and new panels fabricated with 1.2mm mild steel and welded in place, then cleaned back to a seamless finish.

After that we took the underside to bare steel and give it 2 thick coats of Buzzweld Rust encapsulator and applied New seam sealer.

Then we used a tintable bedliner tinted with the original 6m1 toyota emerald green.

The new shell was an automatic shell and the chassis is a manual so some slight alterations had to be made to the tr**ny tunnel that was unexpected but nothing we couldn't fix at Strongfab 😅💪

It's now been passed over to my painter DPR Vehicle Cosmetics for a full shoot in 6m1 which i must say is a beautiful colour under direct light it really pops, can't wait to see it finished now!!!

Now taking books for june/July so don't hesitate to get intouch if you have any project that needs resurrecting!!! Dm the page or via WhatsApp!!

Quick update on the suzuki....

So the floor needed quite a big section cutting out to make space for the massive r380 gearbox and transfer case. Which in turn meant that I would need to Fabricate a custom gearbox tunnel.

This is something I've wanted to tackle for quite sometime so I set about it the only way I know how using paper templates 🤣

I started off by making a frame first with 6mm steel bar then making panels to cover it all up, I also added in a little bit of beadrolling to give it abit structure but mainly because it looks cool.

The front bell house section I made removable using M8 rivnuts and bolts to give easy access for future maintenance and the rear section is welded in place.

Been quite busy since the last update on the td5 powered suzuki....

Just before Christmas I got both landy axles under it and sorted out the steering so I could transport it over Chris Downing unit for our Xmas break so we could crack on with the suzuki builds and keep each other company 😅

Once it was over d8rc we decided to cut the backend off and I started making a bulkhead to tidy up the rear end.

After that I needed a good strong base to build the cage off so I set about making some rocksliders tying them into the chassis using 75 x 50mm box section. Then I made a cross member between the chassis legs using 100mm square box section to tie in the main hoop.

Then it was cage building 101 lead by head teacher chris 😁

Over the next week or so he taught me certain techniques on how to notch tube and measure up etc basically all the good stuff you need to know to build a sick cage haha

Had the suzuki back over mine the past week so this weekend decided to tackle the pedal assembly/brake servo and clutch master cylinder..

We're slowly but surely making progress. can't wait to play out in my new favourite toy!!!

If you have any questions or queries or would like a cage fabricating don't hesitate to dm me via whatsapp or directly through the page!!!

Been very busy with this landcruiser 80 series restoration these past few weeks so I think it's about time I post an update 😅

So where do i start...

Spoke with the customer after inspecting the chassis and underside and we made a plan to reshell this 80 series as it had some previous repairs and was quite rotten (also helped he had another mint shell) so we deemed it more economically viable to just swap it out as we were going to be taking it to a bare chassis anyway for the axles to be rebuilt and painted and the chassis to be sent away for shotblasting and priming.

So over the next few weeks I stripped down this 80 series from basically a full car to a shell, chassis, axles and some storage boxes full of parts and looms 😂

Started by rebuilding the axles with new seals bearings and fresh oil, followed by coating them with RE and WAR hydrophobic paint. Same goes for the control arms, radius arms and steering/anti roll bars.

Now the chassis needed a small repair to the rear cross section before blasting but came back mint after that so we decided to coat the insides in Buzzweld rust encapsulator and paint the rest of the chassis in the same WAR hydrophobic underbody paint.

Overall very pleased with how this project is turning out so far!!!

New shell is coming to the shop this week so the underside can be taken back to bare metal and freshly sealed and coated.

For any questions or queries don't hesitate to WhatsApp me or dm the page!!

Made abit of progress on the little suzuki project these past few weeks...

Most of the floor cut out and made solid with new repair panels (then mostly cut out again for the gearbox 🥲)

Custom panels made for inner sills and 100mm box section for outers.

The td5, lt230 and r380 all mounted to the chassis with custom polybushed engine mounts.

The rear disco axles also had the watts linkage mount removed and had the radius arms mounts moved inboard to line up with the sj chassis...

So a few weeks ago I messaged a bloke Ive had on Facebook for years (after buying a car from him) to offer my help on a offroad buggy project he's working on as its right up my street, suzuki sj body, td5 running gear!! also to learn abit from chris as he's a very skilled fabricator..

Went over had abit crack about the build and he invited me to go to an offroad event that weekend, so I went down we had a great day playing in his suzuki kja then after I left I received a message saying he'd rolled the truck down a steep hill quite badly (truck rolled about 10 to 12 times) he was fine other than a few bruises and cuts surprisingly but the suzuki was abit worse for wear.

That Monday I went over to Chris Downing 's garage and we came up with a plan to use another shell he had with a rotten floor.

Anyway to cut a long story short I'll let the pictures do the talking...
