Stornoway apprentices achieve a stream of successes!
Three apprentices from UHI North, West and Hebrides’ Stornoway campus have competed in major industry competitions over the past few weeks, and we're incredibly proud of how they represented themselves, their employers and the campus.
🔹 Emma MacSween from Lewis Builders Ltd took part in the SPARKS Female Learner of the Year Competition. Emma secured her place in the Final after finishing Runner-Up in the Regional Heats in Wigan. She then travelled to the Midlands to compete against some of the best learners in the UK and put in an even stronger performance than she had in the heats. While she didn't come away with a trophy on this occasion, she should be extremely proud of what she achieved and the way she represented the campus throughout the competition.
🔹 Sean MacMillan from Ali Macleod Electrical competed in the SECTT Scotland North Apprentice of the Year – Stage 1 Competition. Sean impressed in the practical elements of the competition and gave a great account of himself.
🔹Ryan Campbell from A Campbell Electrical Services Ltd took part in the SECTT Scotland North Apprentice of the Year – Stage 2 Competition. Ryan performed particularly well in the theory section and demonstrated the high standard of skills and knowledge we see from our apprentices every day.
A huge congratulations to all three apprentices for stepping up to the challenge and representing UHI North, West and Hebrides so well. Competitions like these are a fantastic opportunity to gain experience, build confidence and showcase the talent of our students.
A big thank you also goes to our prize sponsors, Medlock Electrical Distributors for providing tool kits and Megger UK for donating Safe Isolation Test Equipment prizes.
