ANOTHER CLASSIC IN FOR THE REVIVAL TREATMENT 🛠️🚗💨

We’ve got a very special guest in the workshop today—a rare Subaru Impreza Turbo Terzo 3! Believe it or not, this is actually the second Terzo we’ve had the privilege of working on!
What makes the Terzo so special?

Released in 1998 to celebrate Subaru’s third consecutive WRC World Rally Championship Constructors’ title, 'Terzo' literally translates to third in Italian.

Only 333 of these UK-spec limited editions were ever produced (and due to Italian superstition, badge #13 was skipped!) finished in distinctive World Rally Blue with iconic gold wheels and Alcantara interior. Finding one on the road today is a treat, keeping them solid is getting harder!

We're tackling the classic Impreza weak spots on this legend—giving both rear arches and inner turrets a full cut out and fresh structural repair to ensure it stays solid and safe for years to come. 👨‍🏭⚡

The Legend: K20 Powerhouse

Few hot hatches carry a badge as iconic as the Type R. At the heart of it is the legendary K20 engine—a high-revving, naturally aspirated masterpiece that redefined front-wheel-drive performance. Screaming all the way to an 8,000+ RPM redline, that VTEC crossover is pure adrenaline. These power units are bulletproof, but while the engine will happily run forever, the UK weather and road salt aren't quite as forgiving to the metal underneath.

Today’s Task: Restoring Structural Strength

We’re in the middle of fabricating and welding a fresh piece into the inner sill. On these chassis, road grime gets trapped behind the plastic side skirts and inner arch liners, slowly eating away at the steel from the inside out until it becomes an MOT structural failure.

Key Areas to Check on Your Type R

If you own one or are looking to buy, don't just check the engine bay—get underneath with a torch and inspect these common trouble spots:

Behind the Rear Speaker Panels: A major hidden trap! Water seeps down internal body seams and rots out the inner quarter/sill area from the inside. Pull the interior rear speaker cards out to check the inner metal skin.

Rear Inner & Outer Sills: Rust often hides under the plastic side skirts near the rear jacking points.

Rear Wheel Arches: Water collects behind the inner lip, bubbling the outer arch paint.

Boot Floor & Spare Wheel Well: Leaking tail light seals let water pool inside, causing internal floor rot.

Front Subframe & Suspension Mounts: Surface rust can quickly turn structural if road salt isn't washed off regularly.

We’re cutting out every last bit of rotted metal, prepping the area, and welding in clean steel to keep this track-toy solid for years to come.

🔧👶🏼 NEWEST MEMBER OF THE REVIVAL MOBILE WELDING TEAM HAS ARRIVED! 👶🏼🔧

Well… after a 36-hour labour session that makes even the longest welding job look like a quick MOT repair, we can finally announce that our newest little petrol head has arrived! 😂❤️

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who has messaged, checked in, sent kind words and, most importantly, been patient with us while things have been a little chaotic.

And to my amazing partner… 36 HOURS! 😳

I thought I knew what hard graft looked like, but after watching her go through that, I’ll never complain about a seized bolt again! 😂❤️

She absolutely smashed it and I couldn’t be more proud of her. ❤️

So for the time being, I’ve got a new boss at home, a very tired partner, and absolutely no chance of getting out of nappy duty! 😂

We’ll be getting back to keeping the nation’s rusty arches, sills and chassis alive as soon as we can. 🔥🔧

My partner is currently having our baby 👶❤️, so family has to come first while we welcome our newest little member of the team into the world.
