Spraying waterborne? What's inside your gun matters. Save this.

Meiji builds waterborne compatibility into the range:
- Finer Spot: mirror-polished stainless steel in the ni**le and nozzle passage, which Meiji says gives smoother flow, easier cleaning and less paint build-up.
- F410: a stainless steel paint passage for waterborne compatibility.
- Finer Core: an optional 6CP resin cup that is compatible with water-based paint and easier to clean.

Clean waterborne guns with a water-based cleaner, straight after use.

How far should you hold the gun? It depends on the gun. Save this.

Meiji's recommended spraying distances:
- Finer Spot: 150 mm
- Finer Core: 200 mm
- F410 (EV series): 250 mm

Too close risks runs and heavy edges; too far risks dry spray. Hold a steady distance and keep the gun square to the panel. Always check your paint maker's data sheet too.

Look after your spray gun and it will look after your finish. Five cleaning habits worth saving.

1. Release the air pressure before any cleaning or maintenance.
2. Clean the gun straight after use, before paint can dry in the passages.
3. Use the right cleaner: water-based cleaner for waterborne, solvent cleaner for solvent-borne.
4. Clean the air cap and nozzle with a proper gun-cleaning brush, never a metal pick or wire.
5. Store the gun so the nozzle tip and air cap are protected.

Always follow your gun's instruction manual, and never modify the gun.

An even pattern starts at the air cap. Meet the Meiji Finer Core.

Meiji designed the Finer Core's flat pattern control by setting the position, number and angle of the air cap's secondary holes to reduce unevenness across the pattern. Its MMFT (Meiji Micros Fine Technology) is Meiji's own technology for better atomisation at low pressure.

Available in 1.3 mm and 1.5 mm, with HVLP versions of each. Details are from Meiji's published product information.

SMART repair? Run these five checks before you pull the trigger. Save this for your next job.

1. Prep: the repair area is clean, degreased and masked.
2. Mix: paint is mixed and reduced to the paint maker's technical data sheet.
3. Pressure: set at the gun to the recommended figure (22 PSI for the Meiji Finer Spot).
4. Distance: hold the recommended distance (150 mm for the Finer Spot).
5. Pattern: spray a test pattern on masking paper and check it's even.

167 g, 1.2 mm, 22 PSI: the Meiji Finer Spot in three numbers.

Made for touch-ups and small-area repairs, the Finer Spot is a compact gravity-feed gun with:
- a 1.2 mm nozzle, sprayed at a recommended 22 PSI (0.15 MPa) from 150 mm
- a tulip-shaped pattern up to 190 mm wide
- a mirror-polished stainless nozzle passage, compatible with waterborne paint and easier to clean
- a built-in stand that protects the nozzle tip and air cap
