Too long. Too short. Wrong diameter.
Rivets can be brutally honest when you pick the wrong size.
To keep your joints strong and your swear jar empty, we’ve built an online rivet size guide that does the thinking for you:
- Start with your grip range: stack the materials, measure total thickness
- Use our tables to find the ideal rivet diameter and length
- Match your setting tool nosepiece to the rivet diameter (tiny part, huge difference)
- Confirm everything with our downloadable data sheets
In a few steps, you go from “I hope this fits” to a properly engineered joint.
And if you’re still unsure, The Rivet Company can walk you through it and recommend the best construction fixings and tools for your project.
Right rivet. Right size. Right first time.

Choosing the right rivet size shouldn’t feel like guesswork with a tape measure in one hand and crossed fingers in the other.
That’s why we’ve put our rivet size know‑how into a simple online guide. With it, you can:
- Measure your grip range (total material thickness) and match it to the correct rivet length
- Select the right diameter for the joint strength you actually need
- Double-check your tool nosepiece size, so you don’t damage the rivet or the job
- Cross‑reference everything with our data sheets in a couple of clicks
Whether you’re on site, in the workshop, or at your desk, our guide walks you from “rough idea” to “right rivet, first time”.
And if your job is a bit unusual (we see a lot of those), The Rivet Company team is on hand to help you spec the perfect fixings and tools.

Under the hood of every The Rivet Company tool is a simple rule: if it spins, it should be brushless.
Traditional brushed motors rely on tiny components constantly rubbing together to keep things turning. That’s also a great way to generate friction, wear, and downtime.
Our brushless motors flip that on its head. With permanent magnets and electronic control, they deliver:
- Higher efficiency (more work per charge)
- More consistent power under load
- Compact size without feeling flimsy
- Far less maintenance over the tool’s lifetime
In practice? Your tool runs cooler, lasts longer, and feels more responsive when you really lean on it.
Brushless isn’t a buzzword for us—it’s the difference between a tool you tolerate and a tool you trust day in, day out.
We build for the second one.

Brushless motors sound technical, but for you they mostly mean this: the tool does its job and quietly gets out of your way.
At The Rivet Company, we use brushless motors in our tools because they cut out one of the biggest troublemakers inside a motor: the brushes. No brushes means less friction, less heat, less wear… and fewer moments of “why is this thing dying already?”
You get:
- More power from the same battery
- Longer runtimes and longer tool life
- Smoother torque and better control at different speeds
- Less electrical noise and fewer performance hiccups
Yes, brushless motors cost more to build. But that extra investment goes into reliability, not marketing gloss.
We design our tools so you think about your work, not your equipment. If your current tools feel tired, it might not be you—it’s the motor.

There’s no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” rivet setting tool.
Here’s how The Rivet Company helps you narrow it down:
- **Low volume, simple assemblies?**
A **hand tool** keeps things affordable and compact.
- **Tougher materials and larger rivets?**
A **two handed tool** gives you the extra muscle you need.
- **Production lines or repetitive work?**
A **pneumatic tool** delivers speed and consistency all day long.
- **On-site installs, ladders, tight spaces?**
A **battery tool** gives you freedom from hoses and cables.
We look at your material, rivet type, access, and how many you’re setting per day – then recommend a tool that won’t slow you down (or wear you out).

Choosing a rivet setting tool isn’t just “pick one and hope for the best” – it’s the difference between a clean, consistent finish and a long, noisy afternoon.
At The Rivet Company, we like to keep it simple:
- For small, occasional jobs, **hand tools** are cost-effective and compact – great for repairs and light work.
- Stepping up in strength? **Two handed tools** give you extra leverage and handle a wider range of rivet sizes without wrecking your forearms.
- Need speed and consistency on bigger runs? **Pneumatic tools** are your workhorse – fast, powerful and reliable, as long as you’re happy working with an air hose.
- Working at height, on-site or in tight corners? **Battery tools** bring the power to the job, not the other way around.
Not sure what’s right for your application, materials or volume?
The Rivet Company can walk you through the options and match the tool to your job.

Let’s be honest: guessing how to install a rivet is not a strategy.
At The Rivet Company, we help distributors turn “trial and error” into “set and forget” by teaching end-users exactly how to install rivets the right way.
The payoff is big:
- Faster assembly and less downtime
- No more piles of damaged parts from bad setting
- Dramatically fewer returns and “your rivets don’t work” calls
- Customers who trust your advice, not just your price
We equip our distributor partners with:
- Installation playbooks and quick-reference guides
- Training sessions on tools, techniques, and best practices
- Practical demos for new teams or new product lines
- Ongoing support for real-world questions
Smart distributors don’t just move product – they move knowledge.
We’re here to make that easy (and a lot less painful than learning on the shop floor).

When a rivet fails, it’s rarely the rivet’s fault. It’s the install.
That’s why at The Rivet Company, we don’t just ship boxes – we teach what to do with them.
When distributors actively train customers on correct rivet installation, a few powerful things happen:
- Fewer installation errors, less scrap, less rework
- Stronger, safer joints (and fewer “mystery failures”)
- Lower returns and complaints
- Happier production teams who aren’t fighting the same problem twice
We support distributors with:
- Clear installation instructions in every kit
- Bite-sized video tutorials and step-by-step guides
- On-site or virtual demos for teams
- Direct access to our experts for tricky applications
A little education at the start beats a whole lot of troubleshooting later.
Teach the install, protect the joint, grow the relationship – that’s how we like to work.

The Rivet Company doesn’t just hand you an E8 tool and wish you good luck. We make sure you actually enjoy using it.
The E8 is a 22.5 kN battery-powered workhorse for M3–M8 rivet nuts, but power is only useful if it’s controlled. That’s where our support comes in.
We walk your teams through:
- Checking the battery (two lights minimum – no “nearly dead” surprises on site).
- Matching and greasing the mandrel so it doesn’t wear out before the job does.
- Dialling in the stroke setting (start at 2, test, then fine-tune).
- Loading and setting rivet nuts correctly – yes, that “one thread visible” rule really matters.
- Safely releasing and using the manual release if anything gets stuck.
From on-site demos to clear guides and quick phone support, The Rivet Company turns the E8 from “new tool” into “trusted tool” fast.

The E8 can do a lot. Our job at The Rivet Company is to make sure you don’t need an engineering degree to use it.
We break it down step by step with your team:
- What the E8 is built for: fast, consistent setting of M3–M8 rivet nuts in multiple materials.
- How to keep it running: simple checks on the rechargeable battery, plus when to recharge (two lights is your friend).
- How to avoid downtime: choosing the right mandrel, greasing it, and setting the stroke from 0–9 so you form the rivet nut, not the panel.
- What to do when things don’t go to plan: using the manual release and supplied pin without forcing the tool (or inventing new swear words).
We combine clear training, practical tips, and real-world examples so your operators feel confident from day one – not on day 100.
