In precision sheet metal folding, standard metal-on-metal contact in a press brake can cause friction lines and die markings. For cosmetic or highly sensitive components, this usually means hours of costly secondary polishing.

How it works: Upon request of the customer who requires minimal marking on their folded items, this high-resiliency film is introduced as a protective barrier between the sheet metal and the die. This round brass component was cut on our Bystronic tube laser using a line lead-in and lead-out rather than a common line cut.

While common line cutting can improve efficiency, it can also leave a visible pierce mark on decorative or customer facing parts, especially on materials like brass.

By adjusting the cutting strategy, we achieved a cleaner finish with improved edge appearance and reduced marking on the final component.

Small process changes can make a big difference to part quality.
