Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers

Today, we welcomed students from Weston Road Academy to our site for a STEM visit.

The visit gave students a behind-the-scenes look at our facilities, the chance to meet our team and an opportunity to get hands-on with our current apprentices.

Putting their skills to the test, students took part in a range of engineering challenges, including working together to design and build a bamboo structure capable of supporting a 2.5kg bottle of water.

Events like this are incredibly important to us. By giving students the opportunity to experience engineering first-hand, learn from our apprentices and discover the career opportunities available, we hope to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of engineers.

Introducing our Domestic Abuse Workplace Champions.

Last month, Ruby and Joe completed the Domestic Abuse Workplace Champion training course with New Era, where they learnt how to recognise the signs of abuse and understand how best to support those affected.

Having completed the programme, we’re pleased to share that Ruby and Joe are now officially recognised as Domestic Abuse Workplace Champions meaning they will be able to support colleagues across The HEX Group by signposting them to the appropriate support services and making referrals to New Era where required.

They will also receive ongoing updates on the latest legislation, guidance and advice to ensure they remain well-informed and equipped to help both victims and perpetrators.

£5,070 raised for A Child of Mine! 👏

In July, apprentices from across The HEX Group took on the 15K Tough Mudder to raise money for a cause that makes a real difference to bereaved parents and families.

They faced every obstacle as a team and kept each other going right to the finish line. Their determination paid off, with an incredible fundraising total that will help A Child of Mine continue its vital work.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped them reach this total.

A people-first strategy.

You can invest in facilities and equipment. You can refine processes. But long-term strength comes from developing people properly.

Across The HEX Group, we have colleagues who have grown with the business over decades. We also have apprentices at the very start of their careers. Both matter equally.

Andy Gear joined the business 14 years ago. Today, as our Learning & Development Group Leader, he is responsible for training apprentices, new starters and experienced team members across the Group.

He puts it simply:
“Throughout my career here, I have been consistently encouraged, challenged, and supported to push beyond my comfort zone and realise my full potential. In my current role, I am responsible for delivering high quality mechanical and electrical training to our colleagues company-wide. It is a privilege to contribute to the development of our people and to help build the skills that strengthen both our workforce and our future.”

That is how capability compounds. Experience stays within the business and is passed on.

Strength comes from integration.

At The HEX Group, our divisions operate within a connected structure where design, fabrication, coating and graphics capability sit inside the same ecosystem.

That means:
• Decisions move faster
• Quality standards are aligned
• Supply chains are more controlled
• Knowledge is shared, not siloed

With over 40 years in UK manufacturing, we’ve learned that long-term stability isn’t built on optimism alone. It’s built on capability you can see and processes you can control.

The Group model is about creating depth, resilience and confidence for customers who are planning beyond the next quarter.

The new website sets out how that works in practice.

The HEX Group website is now live.

Over the past four decades, the business has evolved into a Group of specialist UK manufacturing companies, each with its own expertise, united by shared values and a commitment to engineering excellence.

The new platform sets out that model clearly.

It explains how our divisions operate within one Group, highlights the strength of our in-house capability from design through to finishing, and reflects the long-term investment we continue to make in people, facilities and skills.

Customers and partners increasingly look beyond individual products. They want to understand resilience, integration and long-term stability. This website gives a clearer view of who we are and how we operate.

We’ve just wrapped up an incredible Next Gen Makers event and what a day it’s been 👏

As proud members of this fantastic organisation supporting excellence in engineering apprenticeships, we were delighted to host this year’s annual meet up right here on site. With tickets sold out and 30 visitors from engineering businesses across the UK joining us, it was a brilliant opportunity to showcase what makes our scheme so special.

The day was packed with activity:

🔹 An introduction to our apprenticeship scheme, covering how it has evolved and where we are heading
🔹 Insights from our team, marketing, and ex-apprentices sharing their journeys
🔹 An apprentice led factory tour
🔹 Lunch courtesy of Staffordshire Meats 🍴
🔹 A hands on apprentice led graphics wrap challenge

To top it all off, we are incredibly proud to now be GOLD accredited members of Next Gen Makers. 🥇

This recognition, driven by feedback from our apprentices, is a huge achievement and a testament to the strength of our programme and the people behind it.

Being selected as only the third ever host makes this even more special, and we are grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success.

Back for our third year at the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce tournament!!

After lifting the trophy last year, we’re out to see if we can retain it. 🏆

This time we’re bringing three teams, led by Director of Football Greg Howell alongside coaches Sam Welton and Nick Haywood.

Lets go!

Sam Perrins, Manufacturing Engineer Degree Apprentice, Bri-Stor Systems is taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge this May, and needs your help fundraising for A Child of Mine!

Alongside his friends, Sam will attempt to complete the challenge within 24 hours.

Sam says:

“On 24th May 2026, my friends and I will be taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for A Child of Mine.

The goal is simple (on paper): climb the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales, all within 24 hours. That means:

• Ben Nevis (1,345m) in Scotland
• Scafell Pike (978m) in the Lake District
• Yr Wyddfa (1,085m) in North Wales

Three mountains, hundreds of miles of driving, and one very tight deadline.

It’s going to be a long and demanding 24 hours, filled with steep climbs, early starts, and a fair bit of determination, but it’s all for a cause that really matters.

Any support or donations would mean a lot and will help make every step, even the tough ones, worthwhile 💙”.

£892 raised by our HEX Half Marathon team!

This morning, Gayle, founder of A Child of Mine, visited us to receive the charity cheque from colleagues who took part in the Stafford Half Marathon.

It was an incredible effort, so thank you to everyone who ran, donated, and cheered the team on.

We’re incredibly proud of how proactive our colleagues are in creating their own fundraising initiatives, and the momentum shows no sign of slowing. We even have another colleague preparing to take on the National Three Peaks Challenge at the end of this month!

As always, it’s a pleasure to raise money for such an amazing cause.
