Just leaving this comment here.

Not one to put personal stuff on Facebook. But I won’t be in the workshop until the new year.

One of my kids has been seriously ill and in hospital for an operation. Meaning I’ve had to drop work and go into full time child care, for my autistic son, since Friday lunch time.

I will assemble some pics over the next week. And put an update up.

Thanks to those patient people.

Picture for interest. Another Kingscale class 4 tank. That’s been thru a few hands and has had some rebuilding done on it. Plus some upgrades.

Hi guys.

Thought I’d actually do a Facebook update. I’ve been so busy beavering away sorting engines out, making parts and continuing with the commission builds.

1: simplex.

I finished this one off as a display item. The boiler is a dummy.

2: kingscale jinty.

This one has the cylinders reworked plus a few other bits of fine tuning. Reduced the water and coal consumption considerably, turned into a plucky little thing.

3: kingscale J94

This one had similar treatment to the Jinty, but included redoing the backhead layout and adding a firebox trim. I have the former still, if anyone wants a “trim piece”.

4: kingscale 1366

This one had the cylinder work done, new pistons and valves as usual. Goes well and the water consumption is really down on this little thing.

5: kingscale 9f

I only did a little pipework on this one the first time it came in.

6: External water tank for a 14xx. Including coal space on the top.

7: 5” Gauge LNER A4.

This one has been in a few times. This time the scope was to increase power and efficiency. So I removed the liners, increased the ports and passages, then refitted the liners with new broached in stainless bobbins. Must of worked, as it placed 6th in IMLEC 2024.

8: 5” Gauge LNER B1.

This came in for a large amount of work. Customers first engine and bought form a second hand dealer.

Superheaters were blown and the pistons and valves blew by like they weren’t there.
List of work includes:
New crank pins and main bushes.
New pistons, rings and valves.
New superheaters
New regulator.
New grate and ashpan.
New pipework layout.
Plus number of detail embellishments.

9: 3” scale Burrell.

Few minor jobs on this neat little engine. One being a new slide valve to my own proportions. I don’t think the one on the drawings is correct, just my view.

10: 3 1/2” gauge Hielen Lassie.

A very neat example of LBSCs classi design.

Came in to be recommissioned, new pistons and o-rings. Plus a bit of pipework and an overall check over.

Very smooth this…

11: 5” Edward Thomas.

New set of superheated made and installed.

12: 5” gauge LNER A4 commission build.

This is making steady progress and will be in steam within the next couple weeks. To prove the chassis and performance of the engine.

13: 5” gauge GWR 51xx large prairie.
This loco has been a bit of a minefield for errors, but is now making strong progress to being finished.

14: 5” gauge class 14 axle sets.

These came in to be quartered and pinned.

15: some parts I’ve had vapour blasted by a local firm. A set of frames for a kit 14xx. And a 3 1/2” gauge duchess cab.

16: kingscale 9f and 5” Speedy.

These came in at the same time. The 9f I mentioned earlier in this post. This time for some more pipework changes, lubricators modified to work.

The speedy I made an external water tank for, retimed it and did a couple minor pipework repairs.

17: 5” King Arthur class.

This is an exceptional model that came from an auction. The boiler failed, so a new one was commissioned from western steam. A few more bits to make and then the rest of it can go back together. Its a works drawings job this one. For sale when done.

Thanks for reading, I’ve done so much more, I just couldn’t fit it all in one post.

Don’t forget to like and share.

Many thanks.

Ben
