So….. this coming May 2026, we will have officially reached a truly significant milestone, one so meaningful that if you had told a young 26-year-old me back in 2001 that we would achieve this, I simply wouldn’t have believed you.

The journey hasn’t been easy. It’s been filled with trials and tribulations, moments of incredible highs balanced by some of our toughest lows. We’ve faced technical challenges that have tested us all to our core, and heard from doubters who said it couldn’t be done and certainly wouldn’t last.

But here we are…..

Through resilience, determination, and an unwavering self belief in what we set out to build, we’ve shown that persistence and true marine technical expertise truly pays off. Every company setback became a lesson, and every obstacle an opportunity to grow stronger and smarter.

Next month, Thames Marine Engineering Ltd proudly celebrates 25 years in business !!!

Most importantly, none of this would have been possible without our incredible workforce who have stood beside us, those who believed, supported, and kept us moving forward, even when the path ahead wasn’t the easiest. I’m incredibly proud and grateful to every single one of them.

So where are we today?

We are united, focused, and driven. That foundation, combined with our longevity, gives us the strength and confidence to take on marine engineering, marine electrical engineering, and marine fabrication challenges, all under one roof, that most can only aspire to replicate.

This milestone isn’t just a number or a moment, it’s a reflection of the journey, the grit, and the shared company vision that brought us all here.

Our intensionally small but mighty customer base has stood loyally by our side, building over that time close working relationships that feel far more like family than simply contracts or agreements. It may sound like a cliché, but when you’ve had the same million and multi-billion pound/dollar companies standing shoulder to shoulder with you for 25 years, it becomes a powerful statement of who you are, what you do and what you stand for.

It speaks to trust, consistency, and a shared commitment of continued excellence, day in, day out, that goes far beyond the work itself and I cannot fully express how grateful TME are for the journey and the opportunities that have come along the way.

So, in closing, here’s to the continued journey, growth, and the strong company values that have brought us to this momentous milestone.

Thank you all from TME !!!

Are you a Marine Engineer or skilled Vehicle Technician, HGV Mechanic or Automotive Engineer looking for a fresh challenge?

If you enjoy diagnosing faults, rebuilding engines, working with mechanical and electrical systems — but fancy something a little different — this could be your next move.

We are recruiting a Land-based Marine Engineer to maintain and support a fleet of modern vessels operating on the River Thames. This is a workshop / vessel based role in London, ideal for engineers/mechanics who want to transfer their skills into the marine industry without going to sea.

Why This Role Could Be Perfect for You:

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults

• Maintain hydraulic, steering and auxiliary systems

• Conduct safety inspections and compliance checks

• Support breakdown response when required

• Keep accurate maintenance records

• Collaborate with engineers, work well in a team environment and liaise with management and crew to ensure vessel reliability and safety

You will work from our London workshop and piers, ensuring vessels are safe, reliable and ready for daily passenger service.

About You:

We are especially interested in candidates from an Automotive, HGV, PSV, Plant, Industrial, Agricultural machinery background.

You may currently be a:

• Vehicle Technician

• HGV Mechanic

• Fleet Engineer

• PSV Engineer

• Plant Fitter

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong diesel engine knowledge

• Experience with diagnostics and fault finding

• Good understanding of mechanical and basic electrical systems

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Engineering or similar

• A proactive, problem-solving mindset

Marine experience is not required, but beneficial — we will train the right person.

What We Offer:

• Competitive salary

• Overtime opportunities

• Pension scheme

• Sickness pay scheme

• Company vehicle

• Ongoing training and marine certification

• Career progression within a growing marine fleet

• The chance to work around some of London’s most iconic river locations

If you’re ready to apply your mechanical skills in a new environment and build a long-term career in marine engineering, we’d love to hear from you.
