What members of staff at Johnson Valves don’t know about valves is, well, inconsequential. Inside Marine chatted to the Managing Director of the family run company, soon to be entering its 60th year of business on the English south coast, about its long maritime heritage and the recent decision to venture into European waters. ves is inextricably linked with the marine industry. “When the company was founded in 1954, we supplied traditional ship’s telegraphs,” said Managing Director Stuart Robertson. As the need for this equipment was overtaken by electronic versions, the company moved into other types of actuation including valves. As time went on Johnson Valves focussed on the supply of valves, meters and gauges and other related fittings.
