Most people only notice timing when it goes wrong. A presenter’s lips are slightly out of sync. A stadium screen feels behind the action. A remote guest appears slightly out of sync on the final output.

At Hitomi, our job is to make those delays visible before they become part of the audience experience, giving production teams a precise way to measure latency, lip sync and audio coherence before going live.

to our Nicola Milburn joining SVG Europe’s Sports Production Innovation Summit, alongside Carrie Wooten, Media Talent Manifesto, and Edgar Põhjamets, Levira, to talk about On Air and the importance of giving students practical experience with real broadcast workflows.

It was Nicola’s first panel session, and we think she did a brilliant job explaining why Hitomi is supporting the project and what students can take from working with professional timing tools.

Our Anna Hurd is at BBC Scotland in Glasgow today and tomorrow, helping out at the Rise Academy Summer School.

Over the two days, young people will get hands-on experience with the technology behind media production. They'll see how content gets from production to screen, helping the next generation understand where different roles fit across the industry.

There’s a big difference between “it looks fine” and knowing your timing is correct.

In live production, small delays can easily creep in between processing stages, contribution feeds and distribution paths. Sometimes they’re subtle enough to miss until they become a much bigger issue on-air.

That’s why accurate measurement matters. Learn more: https://hitomi.tv/products/

Russell Johnson is in London today at the SVG Europe Digital Content Summit, where sport, content and technology are very much on the agenda.

It's been a brilliant day of conversations around how sports organisations are creating more content, for more platforms, without losing sight of quality. For Hitomi, that makes this a particularly relevant room to be in.

We recently got the team together for a lovely lunch out, and it was a great way to spend time together away from our usual busy schedules.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, so moments like this are a great reminder of how important it is to pause, catch up properly and enjoy each other’s company.

A really nice afternoon with a brilliant team.

Sports content is moving fast, from live streams and social clips to mobile-first formats and direct-to-fan platforms.

Next week, Russell Johnson will be in London for SVG Europe’s Digital Content Summit, joining conversations that sit close to home for Hitomi. As production and distribution routes become more complex, accurate timing and alignment remain essential to a high-quality viewing experience.

If you’ll be there, make sure to find Russell for a chat.

Very few broadcasters are working in a completely “all IP” world yet.

For many production teams, the reality is a mix of SDI and ST 2110 systems working side by side. New infrastructure alongside existing equipment that still needs to perform reliably every day.

That transition brings challenges.

Hitomi helps engineers measure those timings accurately, making hybrid production environments far easier to manage.

When audio and video drift out of sync, viewers notice immediately.

For engineers, the challenge is finding exactly where that timing shift has been introduced, especially across complex SDI, IP and hybrid production environments.

That’s where MatchBox comes in. Hitomi MatchBox provides precise measurement of lip sync, latency and channel alignment, helping teams verify timing accurately rather than relying on assumption or manual checks.

Good broadcasts feel effortless to viewers. But behind the scenes, that experience relies on hundreds of technical decisions working perfectly.

When audio, video and commentary stay aligned, audiences stay immersed. It’s one of those details people only notice when it goes wrong.
