We are looking for a proactive and reliable Yard Operative to join our team in Shirebrook. This role is essential to maintain our high standards of service and customer satisfaction. If you have a passion for logistics and are eager to support operations on the ground, this job is for you.

As a Yard Operative at Shire, you will be working in the yard and warehouse, and be the first and last point of contact for customers visiting the branch, so you play a huge part in delivering a fantastic customer experience.”

A Yard Operative will need to deliver excellent customer service in the yard, through accurate picking & packing, excellent product knowledge and demonstrating best practice in regard to Health & Safety.

The role involves building strong customer relationships with our trade and retail customers and ensure we are consistently delivering to expectations and needs.

About you

You'll need to be someone who isn't afraid of hard work and is a team player. The yard is one of the busiest areas of the branch so you would need to be willing to work under pressure to ensure customers are served in an efficient and friendly manner. If you're someone who is happy to get stuck in, then we'd love to hear from you.

A forklift truck licence is essential for this role.

Working Hours

The Yard Operative position offers a full-time work schedule from Monday to Friday, with alternate Saturdays from 08:00 to 12:00, approximately 40 to 45 hours per week.

Vans are manual 3.5t long wheel base flat beds. The driver will be expected to load and unload the vehicles safely and adhere to all DVSA regulations

Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Branch Manager / Trade Counter Manager within the Shire Group, this is an ideal position for someone that might want to move up from a Sales Role and eventually wants to progress to be a Branch Manager. The role will be our Shirebrook Branch.
What will I be doing in this role?
The Assistant Branch Manager position is key to the performance of the branch. It requires someone who can supervise a team of engaged colleagues to continually improve the customer experience and branch performance.
Key day to day duties include:
• Ensuring all branch activity is centred around the customer and ensuring they have the best possible experience
• Supervision of a team of colleagues - acting as the 'eyes and ears' for the Branch Manager
• Supporting the Branch Manager in the ex*****on of the Sales plan for the branch
• Ensuring the safe and efficient management of daily operations
• Covering the Branch Manager in their absence
What skills are we looking for?

• Timber or Builder Merchant experience (Timber, Sheet materials, Insulation, roofing)
• A Strong background in Sales
• A customer-focused approach and the ability to develop and maintain excellent relationship with customers and suppliers
• Supervision of colleagues - the ability to engage colleagues to help achieve the branch goals whilst ensuring all health and safety standards are upheld
• Strong administration and organisational ability to ensure daily operations are carried out safely and efficiently
• The drive and ambition to want to progress further within the branch management structure
• Motivated, energetic and passionate about your work
• Able to work on your own initiative, but also willing to work as part of a wider team
• A good communicator, approachable, positive and polite.
Please note that product and system training can be provided where applicants may lack this knowledge. We encourage applications from all background if you can demonstrate the skills highlighted.
Hours: Monday 7:30 - 17:00. Saturdays 08:00 - 12:00 by rota
