About the role
We are looking for a qualified Mechanical Engineer / Technician / Fitter with a minimum of three years’ experience to join our team working on materials-handling and heavy-plant applications. This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical skills, particularly in hydraulics, and a willingness to apply basic electrical knowledge. Some work may also be required at customer sites, so flexibility and travel mostly within the region are important.
Key responsibilities:
• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and refurbish heavy-plant equipment and materials-handling systems to a high standard.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including hoses and cylinders.
• Provide basic electrical fault-finding and maintenance support (wiring, controls, sensors) – not essential but a strong advantage.
• Undertake work both at our facility and at customer sites – travel and site-based work required.
• Ensure equipment is serviced to high safety and performance standards.
• Collaborate with other team members to support installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance.
• Keep accurate records of work carried out, parts used and report on equipment performance.
Required experience / skills:
• At least 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in mechanical engineering/technician roles, involving heavy plant or materials handling.
• Proven experience with hydraulics – servicing, fault-finding and repair.
• Strong mechanical aptitude – comfortable working on heavy-duty equipment.
• Basic electrical knowledge is an advantage (e.g., wiring, control circuits, sensors).
• Good communication skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to travel to customer sites and work off-site when required.
• Proactive approach and commitment to safety.
• Full, clean driving licence.
What we offer
• Competitive Salary based on proven experience and qualifications.
• On-site parking.
• 22 days annual holiday.
• Additional holiday day on your birthday.
• Holiday entitlement increases after 5 years of service.
• A stable and supportive working environment with opportunity for development.
