💜🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️Incredible news! As Lucy secures her place in the London Marathon 2027👟🏃🏻‍♀️

🏃🏻‍♀️Our amazing colleague Lucy Clarke has officially secured her charity place in the London Marathon 2027 with MS-UK.🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️

Record-breaking 1.33million people applied for 2027 TCS London Marathon, with stats showing only 50,000 selected. That’s an unbelieve 3.76% chance of your application been selected and place offered.

This is an incredible achievement and here is what Lucy had to say when she got the news.📰

“Anyone who knows me will know how much this means. Running the London Marathon has always been a dream of mine, I apply for the ballot year after year, so I am beyond excited to have been offered a place.”

👟Over the next 11 months, Lucy will be taking on the challenge and training for the London Marathon, which will take place on Sunday the 25th of April 2027. Raising a minimum of £2,400 for MS-UK. This charity provides vital support for people living with Multiple Sclerosis and their families.

🏆Guardian FC return for 2026 Theo Cup! ⚽

😀It’s that time again! Guardian FC are back for the 3rd year running to compete in the Theo Cup on Sunday 28th June, in support of Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS and Charity

💖The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity (SCHC) has always been close to the hearts of all at Guardian Electrical, and we are beyond proud to be taking part in yet another fantastic event to maintain our ever-growing partnership.

💪🏻After back-to-back Quarter Final & Semi Final exits, we are hungrier than ever to go all the way & bring home the trophy!

⚠️Friday’s Find – Corroded & Contaminated Cables⚡

🙌🏻We’ve made it people! It’s Friday! What better way to celebrate than by checking out one of our latest finds😉

📸This weeks’ edition was discovered by Guardian’s fixed inspector, Wayne Didcote, who took the following pictures of SY-type flexible cables, which were installed externally in an area subject to significant atmospheric chemical contamination!

📜SY cable is not specifically recognised within BS 7671 as a standard wiring system for fixed general electrical installations. However, where used, the wiring system must still be suitable for the installation method, external influences and environmental conditions present. (Regulation 512.2, 522.1.1).

⚠️As can be seen, the installation is exposed to moisture, UV exposure and corrosive chemical contamination. The cable construction has clearly deteriorated under these environmental conditions and is no longer suitable for continued service.

🤦🏻‍♂️The outer insulation/sheath has perished, the steel wire braid is heavily corroded, and internal copper conductors are exposed to the elements. This presents a risk of electric shock, fault current, short-circuit and fire🔥
