We’re pleased to share that we have successfully completed another UKAS surveillance audit, with a recommendation to grant accreditation following a successful assessment.

A great result and a testament to the continued hard work and commitment to quality across the team.

We’re currently in the process of commissioning our salt spray testing capability.

This marks an important step in strengthening our corrosion testing and validation processes, ensuring we can deliver even greater reliability and durability to our customers products.

Looking forward to bringing this fully online and sharing more updates soon.

Microstructure of cast titanium after leaching at 120 °C for 72 hours in 50% KOH (Potassium Hydroxide).

High‑temperature KOH exposure at 120 °C induces controlled TiO₂ film dissolution and differential α/β phase etching, enabling precise evaluation of titanium’s transformation morphology and alkaline corrosion mechanisms.

Photomicrograph of a chrome‑moly steel showing a well‑defined decarburised surface layer, with measured depths of approximately 380–420 µm, which was backed up by micro-hardness traverse to give the total decarburisation depth as indicated.

The light‑etching zone at the surface indicates carbon depletion during high‑temperature exposure, resulting in a ferrite‑rich microstructure relative to the underlying base material (tempered martensite).

Magnification: x100
Etchant: 2% Nital

The microstructure of 15/5PH material showing a characteristic structure of precipitation-hardened stainless steel. (Solution treated then aged at 515 °C).

The blocky and lath-like martensite provides high strength, while fine precipitates (not visible at this scale) contribute to hardness and corrosion resistance.

Etchant: Kallings No2
Magnification: x200

ASTM G48 Method C
Localised Corrosion of Alloy 6‑X at 60 °C

A Metallographic cross‑section was prepared after ASTM G48 Method C exposure at 60 °C for 72 h.

Post‑test sectioning reveals severe localised pitting, with pe*******on depths of approximately 2.86 mm and 3.22 mm from the original prepared surface.

The morphology is consistent with passive layer breakdown and subsequent pit propagation under aggressive ferric chloride conditions.
