A century ago in Sheffield, surgical scissors were assembled by hand, piece by piece, by skilled apprentices.

One of them was William Henry Bolton, a young “Scissor Putter Togetherer” — learning a trade that would go on to shape Bolton Surgical.

Fast forward to today, and that same attention to detail underpins everything we do:

We’re celebrating 90 years of Bolton Surgical (formerly Wm. H. Bolton & Co)!

From our roots in a small ‘little mesters scissor shop’ in the heart of Sheffield in 1936 to becoming one of the UK’s most respected and long-established providers of surgical instruments, it’s been quite a journey.

From day one, our goal has always been to provide surgical teams with instruments they can rely on to get the job done, time after time. Coupled with a clear focus on improving patient safety, quality in everything we do has been the key to our longevity and success.

While this milestone gives us a chance to honour our past, we’re just as excited about what’s next — we’re continuing to invest in the latest available technologies, pairing this with our traditional skills set and continually improving our products and services with the help of customer feedback and post market surveillance.
