Sometimes a troublesome appliance returns to us several times for repair, not because we made a poor attempt at fixing it, but actually due to manufacturer's design issues... In TV's such as this one, also affecting other brands, there are usual suspects: The SMPS fails from overstressed critical components; Backlights fail due to overheating. All the user experiences is a TV that doesn't last, they're angry about that, and let us know! How many appliances are thrown away due to issues like this?

One of the founder's earliest electronic constructions - a stereo hi-fi amplifier. These were the days of making your own PCB's, using litho-tape and dry transfers, etching in ferric chloride and drilling every through hole. A great learning exercise, but a heck of a lot easier today!
