Complications to watch for: SUBS
Know the warning signs during a flush: if the renal pelvis swells up, pause and let the pressure settle- persistent swelling may mean a blockage further along.
Never force a flush through resistance, as that can knock a catheter loose and cause leaks.
Keep an eye out too for mineral build-up and infection, both manageable with the right protocol and regular urine cultures.
Early recognition is what keeps these patients doing well long-term. ✅
