It’s a busy period at Tufcot at the moment. Alongside our facilities management work with First Response Group gaining momentum, another significant project is now underway. One of our workshop buildings is receiving a new overclad roof following a major investment authorised by our parent company, Dacke.

This area houses our cloth storage facility, making environmental control particularly important from a dewpoint and material protection perspective. The previous roof had reached the stage where leaks had become an ongoing issue, requiring increasingly creative efforts to manage water ingress.

Following a detailed contractor selection process that began around six months ago, we appointed Roofclad Systems to support the project based on their specialist experience and track record delivering similar work.

Last week marked the start of the 4–5 week programme, with Crest Scaffolding completing the access and safety scaffolding ready for work to begin.

Projects like this might sit behind the scenes, but they play an important role in maintaining the right conditions, protecting materials and supporting the long-term reliability of our manufacturing environment.

We’re pleased to announce that Tufcot is now working with First Response Group to support facilities management across our Sheffield site. As the business continues to grow, it’s important that the systems and support around production continue to develop as well.

Bringing in FRG helps streamline the management of both hard and soft facilities services across the site, allowing our internal teams to stay focused on manufacturing, engineering and customer support.

The project has been led internally by Justin Krebs (Operations Manager), with a strong focus on improving efficiency, coordination and day-to-day site management.

Partnerships like this are often behind the scenes, but they play an important role in keeping operations running smoothly and supporting the next phase of growth at Tufcot as part of Dacke Industri.

We look forward to working closely with the FRG team moving forward.

We recently welcomed Wills and Powers of Attorney By Chloe to site to provide advice on wills and powers of attorney for the team. It was a really useful session, giving people the chance to ask questions and get clear, practical guidance on something that’s often put off or overlooked.

As Chloe said: “Thank you for making me feel so welcome, it was a great day.”

It’s something we’re pleased to support – giving the team access to helpful, real-world advice beyond the day-to-day work.

Over the last 12 months, David Nixon and Josh Duke have organised a series of football sessions in support of Andys Man Club.

The aim was to create a relaxed, welcoming environment where people could enjoy the game and have open conversations. That’s exactly what it became.

We had 28 employees take part in the sessions, with over 30 attending the curry night, alongside raffles and other fundraising activity.

The original target was £500. Together, the team raised £730.

A brilliant effort from everyone involved, both on and off the pitch.

We’re proud to have a team that actively builds a supportive community around exercise and wellbeing.

Andrew has recently reached 10 years at Tufcot. He started in the Process Shop, where he spent over three years building a strong understanding of how our materials are produced. From there, he stepped into a new role and has since progressed to Production Manager.

Today, Andrew oversees the full production process, from the Process Shop through to machining, finishing, inspection and dispatch.

Over that time, he’s seen significant growth across the business, including continued investment in both people and machinery. The shop floor team has expanded to around 40, with increasing demand and complexity in the work being delivered.

Andrew has played a key role in managing that growth day-to-day.

We recently delivered a full day of management training at Tufcot, led by ACAS. The session focused on the practical side of managing people, from leadership styles and delegation through to handling difficult conversations and managing change.

Alongside this, the team have also completed a series of supporting e-learning modules, covering areas such as mental health awareness, performance management, absence management and equality in the workplace.

For us, this is about making sure our managers are equipped to lead effectively and not just from a technical standpoint, but in how they support and develop the people around them.

Strong teams don’t happen by accident. They’re built through consistent investment, clear expectations, and the willingness to keep improving.

Tufcot is looking for a Logistics & Office Administrator to join the team on a 12-month maternity cover contract at our Sheffield site. This is a varied role supporting both office operations and dispatch – from handling customer enquiries and managing shared inboxes through to coordinating shipments and ensuring accurate documentation.

We’re looking for someone who is organised, detail-focused and comfortable working across multiple tasks in a busy environment.

Three of our team will be attending MACH this April. Justin (Operations Manager), Danny (CNC Supervisor) and Hannah (Product Engineer) are heading down to stay close to what’s changing in machining... particularly around tooling and process improvements.

Composite machining has relied heavily on diamond tooling for years. It’s proven, consistent and still widely used. But there are developments beyond traditional diamond tooling that could influence cutting speeds, tool life and overall efficiency.

Events like MACH give us the chance to step outside the day-to-day, see what’s evolving, and bring back ideas that can be applied directly on the shop floor.
