🌳 Tree Shaping & Pruning — On Site in Basildon, Essex Today

Carried out shaping and formative pruning on mature Leyland Cypress and Yew specimens — both had become overgrown and lost their tidy form over time. Carefully trimmed and sculpted to restore clean, symmetrical rounded forms, plus attended to several other trees and shrubs around the garden.

Unfortunately didn’t get many after photos, but client was very happy with the finished result. With regular maintenance these trees will continue to look fantastic! 🙂👍

✅ GREAT PROGRESS THIS WEEK — GROUNDWORKS WELL UNDERWAY!

🔹 All formwork built & set — perfectly levelled, ready for the next stage
🔹 Type 1 sub-base fully laid & compacted — patio area prepped and solid
🔹 Concrete slab poured for the dog run — reinforced, strong, and ready for use
🔹 Moved over 5 TONNES of materials this week — heavy work, proper progress 💪
🔜 NEXT WEEK:

⚒️ Steel edging fabricated & welded for the gravel pathway
🟤 Pathway sub-base — more Type 1 + geogrid installed
🚿 French drains & perimeter drainage dug in around the dog run — keeping it dry & fresh.
21 perimeter lights drilled & fitted flush into the sleeper edging — fully wired in, all in place, ready for our electrician to connect, test and certify

Solid week on site — foundations all locked in, big things coming together. Watch this space! 🙂👍

📌 PINO & SONS — SITE UPDATE

Another busy week, solid progress all round 🛠️

✅ Steel Gate Upgrade — Bespoke fabricated the lock casing from steel plate, built up and fitted perfectly so the barrel lock sits flush both sides within the frame, then welded and secured to the steel gate we installed a few weeks back — neat, strong and finished right 🔐

✅ Pond Life — The fish have moved into their new home this week and are settling in lovely 🐠🌿

✅ Groundworks Dug & Set — Excavation done for both areas:

• Chill‑out patio — laid out overlooking the pond, alongside the sleeper beds

• Dog run base — dug out with planned fall and French drains for proper flow and easy maintenance 🐾💧

• Got everything square and true before we broke ground

This week: Type 1 sub‑base is due on site ready for compaction and build‑up. We’re also expecting the perimeter lights for the sleepers — pre‑drilled holes all ready, so we’ll wire them in and hopefully start laying the slabs too 💪

Great progress on this full garden transformation!

✅ Curved pond with engineered brick coping — precision laid, smooth flowing curve, built for lasting performance and visual appeal
✅ Urn spillway & central fountain jet — balanced water flow and calming feature
✅ Full perimeter sleeper build — heavy-duty timber, clean butcher’s block finish, hand-sanded tight joints, perfectly levelled throughout
✅ Pre-drilled for 21 integrated perimeter lights — all openings ready for installation
✅ Treated with wood preservative & Danish oil — rich natural finish, protected for longevity
✅ Custom timber gate — solidly built, matching design perfectly
✅ Fish arriving soon to settle into their new home

Every detail measured and placed with care — quality and durability at the heart of every part of the build.

🌱 Phase 3 next — working from a blank canvas to create the central garden space: patio seating & dining area, turfed lawn, and a secure dedicated run for four-legged friends.

It’s a pleasure working with this lovely client and helping her vision come to life — a peaceful haven to unwind at the end of each day. Looking forward to seeing it all come together!

✅ BRASTED – BRICK WALL REPAIR NOW FULLY COMPLETED

This was no easy task – working on a very old, heavily subsided and twisted wall that had suffered years of damage from poor drainage and frost. We haven’t just patched it up; we’ve fully restored the damaged brickwork and installed a brand new, proper drainage system throughout, with drainage bricks every sixth course and a carefully formed fall to carry water away safely. All bracing, pointing and finishing is complete – solid, weathertight, and built to stand the test of time. 🙂👍

We were absolutely honoured to be asked to build this wedding arch for good friends of ours.

It was a pleasure to craft something special for their big day, and we’re so proud to have played a small part in it.

✅ GATE INSTALLATION COMPLETE – BASILDON, ESSEX 🙂👍

Out with the weathered timber, in with built-to-last steel!

We headed out from our base in Sevenoaks over to Basildon today to swap out that old wooden gate for this solid, fully welded steel replacement. Finished with a sleek black powder coat, anti-climb security spikes and heavy-duty fixings – robust, secure, and built to stand up to whatever the British weather throws at it.

🔨 JOB COMPLETE: PROFESSIONAL BEECH HEDGE TRIMMING

We’ve just carried out a precision cut on this mature Common Beech (Fagus sylvatica) boundary hedge — shaping to consistent height and width, removing straggly growth, and balancing the canopy to leave it neat, dense and perfectly presented.

✅ What we did:

• Precision trimmed to clean, straight lines

• Thinned out congested growth for better air flow and healthy regrowth

• Retained its natural dense habit for year‑round privacy and screening

• Tidied all edges and cleared away all arisings
