Now a Visit England accredited attraction, it has survived since the 1750s when its then owner, John Burdon, created a sprawling ornamental park. Today, the remains of some of the original buildings he created can be seen throughout the park, which suggest the area has a richer story to tell.

What a wonderful week we had last week with our older children at our Conservation Champions Holiday Club. It was such a productive but chilled week. We did a number of conservation tasks across the week each morning from adding bark chippings to paths, cutting back epicormic growth, revamping the bird feeding area, cutting back willow, moth trapping and taking part in a Wetland Bird survey (WEBS) and a Bioblitz in the meadow. Then each afternoon was relaxed with crafts such as whittling, cooking on the fire, hanging about in the swing and hammock, chatting and more. We are already looking forward to next year.
