Neil has been in London today attending the UK launch of the impressive Phonak EON hearing aids. The photo is of a demonstration of how the speech in noise technology works, and perhaps even more impressive, how the wind noise reduction technology works. With up to 50dB of wind noise reduction, the wind simply disappears! This could be a game changer for those with active outdoor lifestyles.

Instead of optimizing around a single dimension, it understands sound across multiple dimensions: conversation, own voice, environment, and noise, through four deep neural networks working together as one.

Trained on 40 million real-world sounds and adapting every 0.01 seconds, Acoustic Intelligence delivers hearing that keeps pace with every moment, not just the noise.

Why Summer makes hearing challenges more noticeable.

Many people find hearing loss becomes especially frustrating during summer because:
Outdoor gatherings are noisy, with competing sounds from crowds,
nature, and music.
Distance and open spaces make voices harder to hear and understand.
Family events create multiple conversations at once.
Travel and holidays bring unfamiliar environments that may require
extra listening effort.
If you feel “tuned out” after social events, it might be more than just summer busyness, it could be a sign your hearing needs attention.
Book an appointment with us to see how we can help.

I wonder how many of those that were there are now wearing hearing aids 🤔

By the mid-1970s, The Who had established themselves as one of the world’s premier live acts. Known for explosive performances, powerful amplification systems, and the onstage antics of members such as Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, the band continually pushed the limits of concert production.

The performance earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the loudest concert ever measured at the time. Sound levels reportedly reached around 120 decibels, a volume capable of causing hearing damage with prolonged exposure. During the 1970s, increasingly powerful sound systems became a hallmark of major rock concerts, as bands competed to perform for ever-larger crowds.

The record would eventually be surpassed by other artists, but The Who’s reputation for extreme volume became legendary in rock history.

Added Fact: The band’s volume was not just a gimmick. Pete Townshend has since revealed that years of exposure to loud music left him with severe tinnitus and partial hearing loss. The Who became one of the most famous examples cited by hearing specialists about the long-term effects of excessive concert volume on musicians themselves.
