A quick visit out to one of the farms to see the dozer hard at work.

After just 3 days on site, over 12,000m² of topsoil has been stripped, leaving everything ready to begin the cut and fill down to formation next week.

At this rate, we’ll be perfectly set for the latest addition to the fleet — our new 26-ton Hitachi with Leica machine control GPS — arriving just in time for the foundations.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience

Proud moment for myself & the team at Dowling Civil Engineering Ltd. 🏆

Delighted to see the business awarded Subcontractor of the Year – Orders over £2m at the Galliford Try Supply Chain Awards for the works being delivered at RAF Digby.

This recognition comes on a project with an overall value of £65,000,000, where Dowling Civil Engineering is delivering a civil engineering package in excess of £8,000,000, with completion planned for late 2026.

Awards like this reflect the dedication, professionalism, and hard work of the entire team. From those delivering the work on site to the people supporting behind the scenes, this recognition truly belongs to them.

A big thank you to everyone involved across the business for the commitment and standards you bring to every project.

🚧 Heckmondwike Bus Station – Progress Update.

Today’s site visit took me into the heart of West Yorkshire at Heckmondwike Bus Station — a fantastic project that’s really starting to take shape.

This new purpose-built facility will significantly enhance connectivity to Leeds, Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Batley, Bradford and Wakefield, strengthening transport links for the local community.

Built on an oval foundation, this scheme has stood out from day one. A huge credit to our team for delivering high-quality concreting and shuttering works early on, setting the project up perfectly for the steel frame installation.

We’re now progressing into Phase 2 of the external works:

✔️ Drainage complete
✔️ DIRO bus barriers taking shape
🔜 Paving works commencing shortly

It’s been a pleasure working alongside RG Carter Construction as we push towards completion in the coming months.

Great to see another quality infrastructure project progressing well in West Yorkshire 👏

🏗️ Stocksbridge Community Hub – Works Well Underway

Great progress is being made in Stocksbridge as our Groundworks & Civil Engineering package continues to take shape.

Approximately 6,000m³ of muck away is being carried out as we reduce dig to formation level across the building footprint, preparing for foundation works commencing next week.

Capping beam works are now well underway, with reinforcement being fabricated on site for the suspended capping beam. Despite tight site constraints, our Leica GPS machine control is playing a key role in delivering the accuracy and efficiency needed to keep the programme on track.

Strong momentum on this project — more updates to follow as works progress.

We’re proud to announce that, after 19 years of trading, we have completed the purchase of our new office in Saxilby, located on the well-established Riverside Enterprise Park.

This achievement marks another key milestone in our continued growth — further strengthening our expanding fleet of machinery and our dedicated workforce. I’m personally delighted to have finally secured a location that I’ve admired for many years.

As always, we’ll continue focusing on what we do best, and we’d like to thank all our clients and suppliers for their ongoing support and the strong relationships we’ve built together over the years.
