Quick warning to my customers, I was at a premises today and had an interesting conversation with a ‘gentleman’ than spoke in an Irish accent.
Long story short, he left the garage without paying his bill for work done on the pickup.

He didn’t like the fact I was parked so he couldn’t leave the forecourt.

Mac Tools Isle of Wight are pleased to be the podium sponsor for the Isle of Wight Car Club for the 2026 season.
Well done to those that took part, the weather was amazing. The driving was to a great standard and very close right up to the final run of the day.

Auto testing is a superb way to get a start into motorsport.

If you’ve never seen it before, have a look at the car clubs calendar for future events and go and have a look, or even better , take part. Drivers from the IoWCC have continued on to sprints/hillclimbs/ circuits/rally’s etc across the UK and Europe. Who knows what direction your motorsport path could take.

Just a shame Malcolm (club chairman) and I were having a conversation as the photo was taken. 😂

22 competitors took part in the inaugural autotest of the 2026 season at Fort Street Car Park. The dry and sunny conditions held up all day allowing competitors to make the most of the tarmac venue. The competition was very close as the large majority of drivers had a gap of under a second between them.

Wayne Hole achieved his position with a time of 44.98 seconds, just 35 hundredths of a second faster than Dave Goodwin. James McEnery put in a fastest time of 46.14, 1.16 seconds behind Wayne.

Rob Highmore achieved a fastest time of 48.81 seconds.

A very successful first round for Wayne Hole gaining 50 points for the overall championship and 50 points for Class 2.

🥇Dave Goodwin

Not only did Dave Goodwin place first in Class 3, he secured second place gaining 49 points overall and 50 points within the Class 3 championship.

🥇 James McEnery

Another podium placed competitor who secured a class win, gaining 50 points in the Class 4 championship and 48 in the overall championship.

🥇 Martin Goddard

Martin Goddard recorded a fastest time of 51.02 seconds.

| JUNIORS (CLASS 6) |

🥇 Emerson Ridett

Emerson Ridett secured 1st place in Class 6 but also came 6th overall with a time of 47.3 seconds.

🥇 Louise Highmore

Louise Highmore placed 7th overall with a time of 47.65 seconds.

Congratulations to all of our podium and class winners. The next autotest will be on the 25th April at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway Havenstreet Car Park.

I know you’ve had some posts from me this weekend, however this is probably the most important one, a Mac Tools franchisee Rob Gell recently lost his fight with cancer, so Mac Tools UK along with Dread have done these Ltd edition Mac Tools Racing Edge / Cancer Research UK Tumbler.
It’s got a compact wall design with a PP inner wall and recycled PP outer wall. Finished with recycled stainless steel detailing and an RPET wrist strap for easy carrying.
It’s got a leak free design for keeping drinks secure.

£5.00 from each one is donated to Cancer Research UK.

I’ve grabbed a bunch of them at Tool Fair with more to follow. These will be on the van from this week,

Sat waiting for the ferry back home, reminiscing with Shauna about the great weekend with the Mac Tools family.
What a stunning awards night , finished off with the Rick Parfitt Jnr and The RPJ Band .

Shauna loves the enthusiasm and entertainment that these guys bring, she really wanted to dance but but with current issues, was worried about getting in the way on the dance floor , she went full speed as the music started, on the scooter to be able to ‘dance’ to the band before the floor filled.

All respect to her for putting up with me and not only doing so much for the business , but for being by my side this weekend, it would have been very easy for her to stay at home.

Not sure she’ll like the picture but , I do.
