A SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN AT VLS!

Things got a little spooky at VLS as we all dressed up and celebrated Halloween in the office!

We had a fang-tastic day filled with a Halloween quiz hosted by Andy, bingo hosted by Jo, and Halloween games hosted by Shauna. There were plenty of laughs, a bit of friendly competition and some brilliant costumes!

We even had a special visitor, Rex! Although we’re not sure he was there for the Halloween fun or just for the sweets… which he happily helped himself to!

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Shauna the very best of luck this evening as she attends the St Helens College Business Awards 2026, where she has been nominated for Apprentice of the Year.

This nomination is a fantastic achievement and well-deserved recognition of the hard work, dedication, and commitment Shauna has shown throughout her apprenticeship journey.

Shauna recently completed her Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship, achieving a Distinction, which is an outstanding accomplishment in itself. Throughout the programme, she has embraced every challenge, developed her leadership skills, and made a positive contribution to the continued success of Vertical Lift Services NW.

🔧 WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A LIFT IS OUT OF SERVICE?

When a lift breaks down, it can have a real impact on a business. For a busy shop in Manchester, a working lift is essential for moving stock efficiently and ensuring customers can access the facilities they need.

So, what happens when that lift suddenly stops responding? 👇
📅 MONDAY 5th OCTOBER
🕙 10:00am – The call comes in
The client contacts our office to report the breakdown. Our team logs the callout and allocates an engineer to attend site.
🕛 12:00pm – The engineer investigates
Our engineer arrives on site, investigates the fault and identifies an inoperative landing push button. The lift isn't responding to calls, preventing people from using it as intended.
🕐 1:00pm – The next steps
After completing the job sheet, our engineer informs the site team that a replacement button is required and sends the relevant details back to our office.
🕑 2:00pm – The office team gets to work
While our engineer has completed the initial investigation, the work continues behind the scenes. Our office team searches lift suppliers for the correct replacement part and prepares a proposal for the client.
🕒 3:00pm – Approval received
The client approves the proposed works. Our office team orders the replacement button and arranges for an engineer to return once the part arrives.
📅 TUESDAY 6th OCTOBER
🕛 12:00pm – The part arrives
The replacement button arrives at our office, ready for collection by the attending engineer.
🕒 3:00pm – Lift back in service! ✅

Our engineer returns to site, fits the replacement button and gets the lift back up and running.
From the initial phone call to the lift returning to service, every step matters.

It's not just about the engineer attending site. It's about effective communication, sourcing the correct parts, keeping the client informed and having a dedicated office team coordinating the process from start to finish.

Two reviews received today. One clear message.

A school in West Yorkshire had a lift that had been out of service for a long period and was facing costly major works to get it running again.

We were invited to investigate, diagnose and report on the issues.
