Did you know the 1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost engines use a wet timing belt? Unlike a traditional timing belt that runs outside the engine, the wet belt runs inside the engine in oil, making it critical to your engine’s health.
We’re one of the few local garages with the expertise, tools, and experience to replace these belts safely and efficiently – and we’re seeing many coming in each month.
Why is this important?
Ford recommends replacement every 10 years or 150,000 miles, but due to poor maintenance, incorrect oils, or lack of servicing, we often see belts failing early. To be safe, we recommend replacement at around 8 years or 80,000 miles. If a wet belt fails, it can lead to catastrophic engine damage, often requiring a full engine replacement.

Is it a big job? Yes. Replacing a wet belt involves stripping the top, sides, and bottom of the engine, along with the oil pump belt. Specialized tools are required, including:
✅Torque Multiplier for the crank bolt
✅Flywheel locking plate
✅Full timing kit to correctly set both cams
