History of C.C.

As some of you will know, I have been going for a good few years now. I started Camber Custom back in 2007 making handmade one off tattoo machines and continued to do so for about ten years but as the tattoo world changed I decided to take a rest from it whilst I figured out a different direction to take my business. I have been a professional engineer for 42 years now and enjoy my day job fixing some pretty big and awesome recycling equipment but hate just sitting about doing nothing in my spare time. The tattoo industry was good to me over the years, some awesome people doing great things and made a lot of friends and pi**ed a good few people off too but that’s another story.

Camber Custom, now Camber Custom Metalworks is still going strong having diversified a bit these days. I now have 2 workshops in the village of Camber, East Sussex. I upcycle/ recycle interesting mechanical items into mostly useful household goods. Check through the pics to see the stuff, but I also still offer courses. I was basically the only person in the world do tattoo machine building day courses at the time and it covered the entire manufacturing process of the machines, not just putting one together etc. They were great fun and the subject of a 6 page feature article in a trade magazine, I also wrote and had published several other articles on the mechanics and ins and outs of tattoo machines I other magazines and journals.

So, to today. The current courses I offer are very flexible and can be as in depth or as basic as you need or want, by the hour or daily rate. Maybe you have an idea for something you want to make but don’t have all the expensive tooling. Perhaps you want to learn some welding basics, I cover MIG, TIG and oxy propane as well as MMA ( stick ) welding types and whilst I can’t make you a complete welder in a day, I can teach you all you need to know to put you on the right path, the rest is practice and equipment etc.

Get in touch if you think this is something you’d be interested in and we’ll take it from there.
