This week TMS brought together airport professionals from around the world to Cardiff for a two-day User Group event focused on collaboration, insight, and real-world airfield lighting challenges.

The event opened with a networking evening and dinner at Cardiff Castle, where we were honoured to be joined by The Royal Welsh – Y Cymry Brenhinol — proudly known as . Attendees enjoyed a unique photo opportunity with LCpl Shenkin IV, the regimental mascot goat of the 3rd Battalion, continuing a 200-year tradition and adding a memorable Welsh heritage moment to the evening. Our sincere thanks to The Royal Welsh Reserves for their time and support.

The following day, the focus moved to the MALMS User Group Airfield Lighting Workshop at the iconic Principality Stadium. Designed specifically for airports operating MALMS equipment under support contracts, the workshop explored how teams can remain compliant, safe, and operationally efficient as traffic increases and runway access becomes more constrained.

Set in the home of Welsh rugby, the message was clear: just as elite sport relies on precision, teamwork, and discipline, so too does modern airfield lighting management.

Thank you to all the airport teams and industry colleagues who joined us in Cardiff and contributed to such open, practical, and valuable discussions. Your engagement is what makes the MALMS User Group so effective.
