90% of orders from the last batch are now packed and have either already left us or are ready to go with the courier when he comes in about an hours time. Now it's the mad rush to make sure we've got everything ready to set out for the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition at Warwickshire Event Centre - WEC in the morning! We've got a good stock of blower kits in both steel and stainless varieties, there is another set of motors on order butvl they haven't arrived 🤨 £45 for steel, £55 for stainless, everything included to build, just needs a suitable chimney adaptor making.

Hopefully see lots of our followers and customers at the show, if you're looking for a day out, why not come over, there's lots to see

Another Friday and another batch of parts cut. This is the last batch to be cut ahead of the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition and all preorders are now complete. The brass bench is quute tidy this week, so we've included a photo of that as well. 1895 parts this time, covering a huge range of models as usual. Everything from 10mm scale up to 7.25" again, even some bits for Ed's own engine again, including:

Some very interesting locos on this one, to Ed at any rate, including Peveril, the Isle of Man Railways Beyer Peacock in 5", two sets of tanks going out for this, one of which is specially modified! Ed took details from photographs and has modified one set to include the patches over the rust holes, as requested by the customer.

Our famous YouTube Star customers parts have been put away already so you'll have to wait for the next video installment to see those 😁

Time is moving on very fast! Just a quick reminder that THIS FRIDAY is the deadline for all orders for collection at the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition at Warwickshire Event Centre - WEC . If you have something you want a quote for first we really need it by the end of Wednesday to be in with a chance of getting it quoted in time, Thursday lunchtime at a push.

We have been busy getting this packed up for the show, the pre-orders already placed and bundled up now ready, we've still got some more blower kits to pack, and we still need to go through our excess stock and sort out any bargains we may have

Its Friday, time for a Friday Photo, or two. Lets have a look at where we are with frames again shall we!

We're 3/4 of the way through the year now, Google reliably (🤣) informs me it's week 39, and so far this year we have cut 78 sets of loco or tender frames, plus another 12 which are to be kept private. By our maths that means we are currently averaging 2.3 sets of frames every week!

Makes an interesting read to see just what is being built in which scales. 3.5" and 5" continue to be the mainstream scales, Gauge 1 and 2.5" have both seen a good amount of interest this year too.

Couple of orders cut that are in preparation for the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition which is now only a month away, thank you to those customers for making our life a little less stressful next month! Don't forget, if you want an order to collect and save postage, we need to know no later than FRIDAY 2ND OCTOBER, otherwise there won't be enough time to get them cut. It takes a week to process a full batch, and 3 to 4 days to sort and pack, and we'll be doing everything else as well to be ready.

Bit late with this one, it's busy busy busy!

1397 parts cut on the latest batch, all are now inspected and sorted, we've got 3 to recut. First shipments are winging their way across the country in various directions, and we have a couple of international shipments to make as well.

Lets talk deadlines, the Midlands Exhibition is approaching very fast now.

Friday September 11th is the next deadline, that's this week. Any orders for guaranteed collection at the Midlands are best placed THIS WEEK!

The next and absolutely final deadline for collection at Midlands is Friday 2nd October. Orders placed after this will not be ready for collection, its takes us a week to cut a batch and then we have to inspect and sort, there just isn't enough time to do anything later and still be able to get ready for the show and be set up. Orders placed for this batch are a pretty certain to be ready, if there's any parts we have to recut, it's touch and go if we'll have time to do them, hence why orders are best placed this week

We are back in the office today after a quick week's holiday before the start of the new school term, and someone had a special day as well, our Apprentice turned 8!

Straight into it today getting the next batch of parts cut, so any orders placed in the last couple of weeks are now in process. Because of the Bank Holiday yesterday that puts us one day back from normal so we anticipate completion on Monday with inspection and shipping starting straight away, hopefully we can get everything away for the end of next week too. We'll be very busy this week working through everything, lot of quotes to get out as well, we'll do them as quickly as we can so if you're waiting sorry for the delay and we'll be in touch very soon. Thursday is also back to school for the Apprentice so Ed will be back on the schoolrun, and it's also new school too, and as yet we have no idea what the timetable is!!!

Don't forget, the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition is fast approaching and if you want something to collect there we need to know sooner rather than later!

In a shade under two months we will be at the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition 2026 so at the same time as cutting and shipping all the regular orders we are also restocking on the few items that we do normally keep on the shelf, one of which is popular blower kits. We had a run on the stainless steel body version recently so we've just done a batch more, and we'll be making sure we have more of the stainless versions on the stand than we did last year🤦‍♂️ Still priced at £45 for the steel kit and £55 for the stainless, the kits include all the plates, a ready-rolled housing, motor, fan hub and all the fixing screws. The only thing you need to make is a spigot to suit your model's chimney, assembly video on our YouTube channel! (Note, at the time of filming we didn't have the fan hubs, they are now in the kit!)

On that same score, if you are looking to save on shipping and collect orders from the Exhibition, you need to get you order to us sooner rather than later so we have a chance to make the parts! There are a guaranteed two more batches between now and then, possibly a third. If you phone us the week before, it ain't happening!!

Its the end of the week and another batch is completed. 1,444 parts on this batch, everything from a 7mm scale LNER B1 all the way up to a 7.25" Holmside, with lots of bits in between. There's 4 tender kits on the brass bench which are all stacked up, and a selection of stainless steel firebars, ashpans and blowers.
We will get cracking on inspecting all of the parts now, we'll be aiming to have everything dispatched before the end of next week.

It's a Monday morning of cutting week, so lots to be doing. There's a little over 1300 parts on this weeks batch, and we're cutting in steel, stainless, brass and plywood.

All the order paperwork has been printed and is in the all important weekly file. There's about 80 individual orders all separately filed together ready for the end of the week when we come to sort everything ready for shipping. If you placed an order before the latest deadline, it's in here!

First job of the day is to upload all the new files to the system. Our booking software outputs a list for us of every drawing file that's either new or a revision from last cut, and this week it runs to 327 lines. Once all those are uploaded the long job of nesting all the parts and ordering materials can begin.

Next job though, definitely morning coffee.....
