Advance notice -MINOR delay to service over the next 2/3 weeks

Long standing customers and followers of our page will know that our Apprentice Erica has a disability that is known as 22Q11 deletion syndrome, which means she is missing part of a chromosome and has a few medical complications - thankfully she has been incredibly lucky and only has a few very minor symptoms. One of those is a defect to her soft pallet for which she has already had two operations, and she has now been called at short notice for another operation, hopefully her last. This is scheduled for next week, so we have a couple of things to do like go over to Birmingham Children's Hospital for a pre-op appointment, and then there will be the trip to and back from the hospital for the op itself. Holly will be staying with Erica at hospital and Ed will be at work as normal and at home looking after the dog, but there will be a couple of occasions where we won't be in the office. The next batch of cutting will be happening next week as well, there may be a day or two's delay but we don't expect any more than that, and we'll endeavour to get orders shipped out as quickly as we can

Another Friday and another batch of laser cutting is completed and ready for sorting and shipping out. Small selection of the 1688 parts cut this time, there's a large number of parts we've already sorted into boxes for customers as they've come off, you recognise them after doing it every other week for years! There's everything from the tiny 16mm scale Wild Rose Hunslet all the way up to a large 7.25" loco, with bits for Gauge 1, 3.5", 5", and 1", 2" and 4" scale traction engines along the way, and also TWO complete sets of parts the GDS 16mm scale NGG11 Garratts, one of which is going to be winging its way half way around the world to Australia

It's the middle of the week, so it's Workshop Wednesday again 😁

This morning we have been working on one of our older wagon kits for Gauge 1. This is the WWI era 50-ton "Warflat" bogie wagon, avaliable in both 10mm and 1/32nd scale. The design was by Roger Thornber a number of year's ago, we don't have a display piece for the exhibition stand, and we don't really have any proper instructions for it. With the G1 AGM on the horizon therefore (November, Gaydon πŸ˜‰) we thought we really should do something about it.

Also today working on a couple of 16mm items, and a 7.25" one if we get time

This mornings task, steps for a 7.25" diesel....

3D printing has it's place, but this really isn't one of them. We have already done a set of parts for the customer to replace the front steps on his fairly new model, which spent a little time in the sun, and they promptly curled up and broke. The bend in this rear step isn't a trick of the light or the camera, it really is that bad. Completely wrong choice of material by the manufacturer. Customer has requested replacements in steel, so we'll set to work and create a little slot & tab kit to make better than new.

Our next batch of laser cutting is scheduled for next week and you have until 5pm on Friday to get your orders in to be included in it. Any custom parts for quoting sooner the better please so we have time. This weekend we will be at Rugby Model Engineering Society for the Sweet Pea Rally which we (RMES) are hosting again. We're not actively trading but if you're coming and want something let us know and we'll bring it. We will have blower kits and running boxes with us.

Hopefully Phil and Jacquie have organised the sunshine!

Another week, and another batch of cutting!

Just a selection of the 1130 parts cut in the latest batch, delayed slightly by the Bank Holiday Monday, but we're on with sorting and shipping now. First shipments with Royal Mail should hopefully go this afternoon, courier to collect tomorrow for delivery on Wednesday for the first of the larger shipments.

This time we have everything from a little O gauge model to a customers own drawings, all the way up to a large 7.25" tender/driving truck. In between are parts for 1" Minnie, 2" GMT, 4" Foster, Gauge 1 County, Gauge 1 Project, 3.5" Princess Marina, 3.5" BR1F tender, 3.5" Britannia, 5" Simplex, 5" Springbok, 7.25" Duchess, and a heap of custom parts we don't know what for! Always good to see the hobby is very much alive, and not just alive but following many and varied pathways.

Ed was off to play trains today with G1MRA Midlands Group at the British Motor Museum Gaydon, in support of the Gauge 3 AGM, and took the Derek Crookes / Malcolm High design LNER D49 for a trundle. Had a few troublesome runs recently with the pump not feeding, but after a little work this week it's back running nicely again. This is in 10mm scale and the parts are available from us, listed in the G1 menu on the website.

Yesterday was a very busy day and we completely forgot to take a picture of the latest batch to be completed! 1487 parts have been cut and will be winging their way to customers this week.

Friday 22nd May is currently the deadline for orders for the next batch with delivery in early June. If you are coming to the Sweet Pea Rally at Rugby MES on June 13th and 14th you can save the delivery cost and collect from us there, but this will be the last batch to guarantee being ready for then!

Slightly delayed by the bank holiday weekend and a need to shuffle a few things around, but another week, another batch, and this batch seems to have been the batch of the big bits! Not much showing on the table today, the bigger bits are scattered around, but still 754 parts done. We have got a few more parts still to finish off, but the first lot of orders will go out with Royal Mail this afternoon, and the courier will be here tomorrow to collect the first lot of parcels.

Very mixed set of parts as usual, we have Traction Engine parts again, some spokes & some hornplates, and of course the railway parts in a wide spread. Cut on this batch we have everything from large 7ΒΌ" parts, a spread of various designs in 5", we have some 3Β½" parts, all the way down to large 2Β½" gauge, Gauge 1 and 16mm. The eagle eyed may spot some 'Jack' parts in there, and if you subscribe to our YouTube channel you'll have noticed that Holly has been hard at work and has released the next episode of her 'Jack' build! It's looking like an engine now πŸš‚

South (Africa) meets North (Wales)!

Holly's had a day off today and she's been busy in the sunshine working on our test track, adding some nice details to make it a railway. As we haven't quite finished laying all the track, we needed to make sure where the shed siding was going to go, and make sure there was enough room for trains to pass, so engines needed to be got out!

"Midget" by Graham Duncan-Smith, "Lilla" by Roundhouse Engineering Co.Ltd. with custom lining by Berry Hill Works, track by Peco, buildings by Modeltown, and beautification by our very own Holly
